Key Responsibilities

  • Supervision and Coordination:
  • Supervise, guide, and coordinate the work of junior OT technicians and nursing staff.
  • Allocate duties and prepare duty rosters for the team.
  • Pre-operative Preparation:
  • Ensure the OT is fully prepared for surgeries, including arranging instruments, sterile equipment, and consumables.
  • Verify the functionality and readiness of all equipment and supplies.
  • Assistance During Surgery:
  • Provide technical assistance to surgeons and the nursing staff during procedures by handing instruments and consumables.
  • Maintain the sterile field and follow strict aseptic techniques.
  • Sterilization and Infection Control:
  • Monitor and ensure strict adherence to sterilization protocols and infection control measures.
  • Conduct regular physical verification of all OT equipment and maintain fumigation records.
  • Inventory and Maintenance:
  • Manage and maintain inventory of surgical instruments and consumables, ensuring timely requisitions.
  • Report any defective equipment or instruments for repair or replacement to the OT in-charge.
  • Patient Safety and Comfort:
  • Assist with patient transfer and positioning on the operating table, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Actively participate in the "Time Out" safety checklist before surgery begins.
