Technical Manager - Aircraft Engine - Jigs & Fixtures - Aeroengine
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
· To define, establish, support jigs & fixture engineering solutions from concepts to prove out, continuous improvement, trouble shooting, calibration & care, program management.
· Adopt & drive quick change over mechanisms, fool proofing improvements, high productivity & optimized manufacturing cost solutions resulting in qualitative product for customers.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES
· Create Jigs & Fixture concepts with latest technology to have Quick Action intent
· Understand the engineering definitions, scoping and liaise with process planner, engineers to develop concept design & buy off
· Quick decision-making skills on concept designs and suggestions to customer
· Incorporate stage drawing specs into fixture design while considering machine interface, ergonomics & production requirements
· Able to understand & implement ISO/Japanese Standard Tooling Elements
· Tool requirement planning as per repair operation charts or process planning of Aero Engine Components
· Ability to create/ recreate, modify, update legacy Jigs & fixture drawings in Nx, CATIA, Creo, Solidworks and other tool platform incorporating GD&T for manufacturing,
· Demonstrate system dependencies of Jigs and fixture model with respect to finite element, stress and strain verification and Hand calculation analysis
· Demonstrating in-depth knowledge of machine tool interfaces and component specific requirements
· Work & co-ordinate with offshore-onsite Teams, cross-functional teams, local experts, partners and suppliers to ensure technical aspects, export controls are understood and accounted for as required
· Liaise, support with customer & vendor for Jigs & fixture Manufacturing, testing verification/prove outs and commissioning
· Simulate tooling installation as needed
· Define & establish asset care and calibration routines for new tool/fixture concepts
· Define, establish, and manage Jigs & fixture documentation
· Drive process standardization, waste elimination and continuous improvement
· Support the investigation of all non-conformance reports and all responses using proven Problem solving methodology
· Recognize business opportunities / profitability / Productization
· Able to create proposals for tooling and Pre-sales Support
· Defect Analysis and continuous improvement on tool designs/concepts
· Able to train and guide team for all levels
· Expertise in creating complex concepts for Complex/Special Purpose Fixtures
· Interpretation of Different Aero Engine Blades
COMPETENCIES & SKILLS
· Fully conversant reading engineering & manufacturing drawings
· Basic understanding of the principles of kinematics and distortion
· Knowledge of Hydraulics/Pneumatic Tooling
· Knowledge of modular fixtures & incorporating hydraulics & pneumatics into Jig & fixture design for high performance & customized ones
· In-depth application analysis of Jig/fixture (FEA) finite element analysis and/or other specialist analysis
· Knowledge & implementation techniques for Ease of use, Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED), Poke Yoke exploited throughout the Jigs and fixtures design.
· Knowledge of NRC Manufacturing Jigs & fixture cost estimation and material selection
· Hands on experience designing fixtures, analysing the designed fixtures for robustness and life expected using hand calculations or using analysis tool as per test plan.
· Sound knowledge interpreting the Tool design standards, GD&T (standards ASME)
· Basic Knowledge in using Measuring & Testing equipment’s.
· Able to support Root Cause analysis and implementation of problem-solving techniques.
· Knowledge of Automated Mechanisms of Location & Clamping
· Knowledge of D/PFMEA, VSA, Risk & Failure mode analysis & LEAN
· Awareness on aerospace engine components and assemblies
· Awareness of aerospace quality requirements (AS9100, various ISO)

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
· Graduate in a Mechanical/Industrial Degree/Diploma or equivalent work experience
· Post Diploma in Tool design-Not mandatory, Preferred.
· Should have background on Quality Management Systems
IT SYSTEMS & SOTWARE SKILLS
· CAD tools: UG/NX, CATIA, Creo, Solidworks AutoCAD and others
· Analysis tools: Basic knowledge on Stress/Finite element Analysis tools, Minitab.
· MS Office tools: MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project.
ADDITIONAL NON-MANDATORY SKILLS
· Good understanding of Aerospace Manufacturing Environment
