Person Specification

Education, qualifications and/or training
Essential
  • BSC in Dietetics or equivalent
  • Current registration as Dietitian with HCPC
  • Post graduate training in paediatric Dietetics
Desirable
  • Member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA) Obesity Specialist Group
  • Study in behavioural therapy
  • Experience
    Essential
    • Proven clinical experience following graduation. This must include at least one years’ experience in managing children and young adults on home enteral feeding
    • Experience of training student dietitians
    • Working as a part of a team
    • Previous experience of research and audit
    • Experience of developing dietetic service
    • Extensive experience of outpatient clinics
    Desirable
    • Post registration experience of managing children on home enteral feeding, allergy and faltering growth.
    Knowledge and Skills
    Essential
    • Sound Clinical knowledge
    • Evidence of CPD e.g. advanced diploma in dietetic practice or equivalent short courses
    • Sound knowledge of current issues relating to children on home enteral feeding
    • Good communication and organisational Skills
    • Good presentation skills
    • Excellent time Management
    • Maintain confidentiality
    • High quality care for every patient, every day
    • Ability to liaise with professionals at all levels
    • Computer Literacy

Requirements Good Knowledge of Nutrition and Dietetics and an understanding of the dietary management of common conditions requiring diet therapy Awareness of the HCPC Standards of conduct, performance and ethnic and Standards of proficiency Knowledge of clinical governance Knowledge of different ethnic cultures and religions Well-developed communication skills with people from a wide variety of backgrounds Ability to convey complex information in an understandable way Computing Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to demonstrate organisational skills including time management, prioritising and the ability to complete a task. Ability to work autonomously within code of practice with peer support.
