The Mechanical Draughtsman will be responsible for preparing detailed technical drawings, layouts, and 3D models of mechanical systems, equipment, piping, and structural components for thermal power projects. The role involves supporting engineers in translating design concepts into accurate and clear technical drawings to ensure smooth execution of projects.

Role & responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, and fabrication drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
  • Develop GA drawings, piping layouts, equipment layouts, and structural drawings for thermal power projects.
  • Work closely with mechanical design engineers to create and update drawings as per project requirements.
  • Ensure all drawings are prepared in compliance with industry codes, standards, and company guidelines.
  • Prepare BOM (Bill of Materials), isometric drawings, and fabrication details.
  • Revise drawings based on feedback, design changes, and site requirements.
  • Maintain drawing records and ensure proper documentation for project handover.
  • Coordinate with procurement and site execution teams for any clarifications related to drawings.
  • Ensure accuracy, clarity, and completeness of drawings to avoid site errors.

Preferred candidate profile

Diploma / ITI in Mechanical Engineering or Drafting.

3 to 7 years of experience as a Mechanical Draughtsman, preferably in EPC or thermal power projects.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other drafting/design software.

Knowledge of piping, boiler, turbine, and auxiliary systems in thermal power plants.

Good understanding of fabrication and installation practices.

Ability to interpret and convert engineering sketches/concepts into detailed drawings.
