Senior Narrative Designer/Writer

- Shape the narrative vision and content for Bitlife India:- Create compelling and well-structured narrative, including themes, plotlines, and characters.- Develop engaging, high-quality content appropriate for Bitlife India that celebrates and maintains the tone and humor of the original game.- Collaborate with cross-functional teams:- Collaborate with product managers, artists, and engineers to seamlessly integrate gameplay mechanics and narrative, ensuring a cohesive player experience.- Demonstrate knowledge and expertise:- Knowledge of Story driven single player games: A deep understanding of the Story driven single player game genre, their mechanics and themes.- Visual Writing Skills: Must be able to craft concise and engaging text that complements the story and its artwork and enriches the player's understanding of the game.- Mentorship:- Hire future team members based on how the game is scaling.- Mentor and guide the game team on narrative design and sharing expertise.- Foster a supportive learning environment, encouraging continuous growth and improvement within the narrative design team.- Maintain continuity and adaptability:- Continuity: Maintaining consistency in the writing style from the original game and ensuring that new narrative elements don't conflict with established canon.- Adaptability: The game releases new sets and expansions at regular intervals; this role must be adaptable and able to work within these different contexts and timelines.- Gain a deep understanding of the motivations and behaviors of the target audience to increase the relevance and effectiveness of the content ideas- Provide feedback and promote collaboration:- Provide appropriate feedback to art directors about artwork, including relevance and continuity concerns for character and story.- Communication and presentation:- Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential.- Maintain high standards:- Review and provide constructive feedback on written materials, such as scripts, flavor text, short and long-form published stories, and marketing materials, to maintain a high standard of storytelling excellence.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Deep understanding of creative needs in narrative games, more importantly Story driven single player games- Strong creative vision and effective communication skills.- Adaptability to work in a highly iterative and ambiguous development environment- Enthusiastic about crafting an inspiring and exciting game world.- Ability to simplify complex ideas and communicate across disciplines- Motivated, independent, and collaborative; comfortable seeking and offering help. Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.- Computer Skills: Proficient in word and image processing softwares, familiarity with versioning software and a willingness to learn.- Passion for gaming We value team members who share our enthusiasm for the magic of games.- Ability to take international content and culturalize to appeal to Indian audiences
Experience:
- 8+ years as a Narrative Designer and writer.- Preferred experience in narrative design world building, character building etc. in the gaming, comic or entertainment industry- Strong background in game narrative processes in English and Hinglish- Excellent communication, organizational skills and high attention to detail.- Professional writing experience in visual fields
