Role Description ✏️


We are seeking a Senior PHP Engineer with 3-5 years of experience managing large-scale production environments in news media, tech blogs, and global blog networks. As a critical part of our engineering team, you will ensure the uptime, performance, and scalability of our platforms while implementing best practices in development workflows and test automation. Your expertise in technical SEO, multi-platform publishing, and deep understanding of web technologies will drive our content and digital strategy forward.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-traffic sites (6-7 digit monthly visitors) and contribute to the evolution of our global publication and tech platforms.


Key Responsibilities ️


  • Platform Performance: Establish and maintain robust developer workflows and automated test suites to ensure high uptime and top-tier performance across our platforms.
  • Technical SEO: Lead global and localized SEO strategies, optimizing for multiple search engines with sitemaps, schemas, accessibility, top core web vital improvements, alongside more advanced and novel SEO techniques.
  • Multi-Platform Publishing: Manage seamless content publishing to third-party platforms, enhancing our domain reputation (DR) and backlink profile.
  • Tooling & Automation: Utilize tools like Screamingfrog paired with SEO automation tools to systematically improve site performance and SEO across portfolio sites.
  • Custom Development: Develop and maintain fully custom WordPress themes and plugins.
  • Data Pipelines & Reporting: Build and optimize data pipelines, delivering reliable data processing and insightful reporting structures.
  • Headless CMS Experience: Bring hands-on production experience with monolithic custom themes and modern headless CMS architectures using frameworks like React, Next.js, and Tailwind.


Qualifications


  • B.Tech/B.E. in Computer Science or related field from a reputed Indian institution
  • 3-5 years of experience working on high-traffic platforms in news media, tech blogs, or large blog networks.
  • Deep expertise in PHP, SQL, and WordPress custom theme and plugin development. You should have developed or contributed to at least 10 production-ready custom plugins, adhering to industry best practices.
  • WordPress Core Contributions: You have an extensive contribution history to the WordPress open-source ecosystem and stay updated with the latest industry advancements and WordPress core updates out of curiosity.
  • Proven track record of technical SEO implementation across multiple search engines and global markets.
  • Strong understanding of core web vitals, accessibility, and content optimization for web performance.
  • Hands-on experience using Screamingfrog and other SEO tools for systematic analysis and optimization.
  • Familiarity with headless CMS setups and modern frameworks like React, Next.js, and Tailwind CSS.
  • Experience with multi-platform publishing strategies and improving backlink profiles.
  • Strong data pipeline and reporting skills with a solid track record of proven objects, events, and reports.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal).
