Role : Java Developer - SDE II


Job Description :


Mobile Premier League (MPL) is the world's leading mobile eSports platform that allows users to participate in free as well as paid competitions across 60+ games in multiple categories, including fantasy sports, sports games, puzzle, casual and board games. Founded in 2018, MPL hosts hundreds of millions of tournaments a month and is trusted by over 90 million
registered users across Asia, Europe, and North America.

Responsibilities :

1. Responsible for ensuring that the architecture and design of the platform remains top-notch with respect to scalability, availability, reliability and maintainability

2. Create clear career paths for team members and help them grow with regular mentoring. Perform regular performance evaluation and share and seek feedback.

3. Act as a technical architect as well as a hands-on technical manager of a team of engineers.

4. Own end-to-end availability and performance of features, driving rapid product innovation while ensuring a reliable service.

5. Working closely with the various stakeholders like Program Managers, Product Managers, Reliability and Continuity Engineering(RCE) team, QE team to estimate and plan projects in an agile environment

6. Responsible for setting up best practices for engineering and development. Lead by example and champion their adoption.

7. Maintain and drive tech backlog execution for non-functional requirements of the platform required to keep the platform resilient

8. Assist in release planning and prioritization based on technical feasibility and engineering constraints

9. A zeal to continually find new ways to improve architecture, design and ensure timely delivery and high quality

Requirements :

1. Thorough understanding of highly distributed, low latency and high throughput systems

2. Knowledge of globally distributed disaster-recovery enabled architectures

3. Solid understanding of cloud engineering (AWS preferably)

4. Expert knowledge of micro services stack and principles (12-factor app) and related network architectures

5. Experience of the best practices or REST(SpringBoot, jHipster, Dropwizard) and non-REST (gRPC) communication

6. Exceptional code reviewer and solid programmer (Node. js/Java) Software Development Engineer

7. Exposure to multiple kinds of data storage and retrieval strategies - Relational, Non relational, Document, Grabh, Object, Timeseries databases

8. Solid grip on CAP theorem, transactional consistency, distributed transactions, eventual consistency

9. Knowledge of essential distributed design patterns for backpressure, bulkhead, circuit breaker, event sourcing, CQRS, event driven architecture

10. Good knowledge of mid tier caching strategies

11. Understanding of Containerization, Orchestration and Service mesh frameworks (Kubernetes, Mesos, Ist. io, etc)

12. Good understanding of the best practices of API design

13. Champion of Engineering excellence - code reviews, unit tests, documentation of system design and architecture, etc

14. Computer Science or equivalent engineering graduate from a reputed college
