Together, we’re working at the pace of change on diagnostic tools that address the world’s biggest health challenges, driven by knowing that behind every test there is a patient waiting.Learn about the Danaher Business System which makes everything possible.The Sr Staff Engineer, Reliability Engineering is responsible working with product development and sustaining teams to ensure Cepheid is developing highly reliable products through the application of Danaher reliability tools (e.g. Failure Mode, Effects & Criticality Analysis, structured problem solving, reliability modeling, reliability predictions, etc.).  This technical role will be responsible to support assessment and improvement in final product reliability. The ideal candidate will be working closely with the mechanical and electrical design, software, firmware, and manufacturing engineers to characterize and demonstrate design improvements through testing and simulations.  Primary function of this position is to make/review/improve/execute current plans for systems/subsystems reliability testing. This includes design, procurement and automate the systems/subsystems throughout the reliability tests. Other important task is to support current efforts by the design team for bench testing critical components and subsystems.This position is part of the Systems Engineering team and will be located Bengaluru, IDC, India. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.In this role, you will have the opportunity to:Define and implement functional and reliability requirements of systems/subsystems to plan reliability/life tests that help evaluate the short/ long term compliance with the specifications. Provide reliability predictions, along with test plans and methods to assess and drive product reliability to the desired levels. Develop & present methods of correlating reliability test results with actual field performanceInteract and work closely with ME, EE, SW, FW, IT, PM engineering groups and suppliers ensuring the desired reliability is achieved using Design for Reliability (DfR) approaches including FMEA and DoE approachesWorks with R&D, Manufacturing, Customer Care, and Quality groups to help resolve customer complaints/manufacturing issues during early commercial stages by performing reliability prediction of failure mechanisms on products under development and products in the fieldOwn the product and engineering design reviews, assessing the reliability budget of products/designs and inspire changes which improve product reliabilityAble to articulate needed design changes to improve product reliability and influence and align with cross functional stakeholders on those recommendationsThe essential requirements of the job include:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering with 8+ years of experience, or Master’s degree in the same fields with 6+ years of experience in reliability and life testing of medical capital or consumer equipment and instrumentsMinimum 5 years of experience designing, validating, executing, and documenting reliability test methods and protocols including HALT, HASS, and Accelerated Life TestingMinimum 5 years of hands-on experience using statistical tools such as JMP, Minitab, DOE++, Weibull++, ALTA, and BlockSim, with proficiency in Python or Matlab for data acquisition and analysis of electrical and physical phenomena including temperature, voltage, current, torque, force, pressure, and soundMinimum 5 years of experience applying reliability statistical methods and working across design and manufacturing teams throughout the product development lifecycleMinimum 5 years of experience integrating and troubleshooting complex system interfaces using diagnostic tools and techniques to resolve interoperability issuesIt would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:Demonstrated leadership in reliability improvements, influencing the design, process, software, firmware engineering from early design.Ability to use FEA software (Eg. Ansys Sherlock) for product life prediction in creation of reliability tests.Medical device industry experience or equivalent experience in a regulated industryJoin our winning team today.
