Position Overview

The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment in a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. This role involves performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and supporting compliance with regulatory standards to maintain production efficiency and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on mechanical systems, including HVAC, pumps, compressors, conveyors, and other pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment.
• Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose mechanical failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity.
• Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), FDA, and other regulatory standards. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders and equipment logs.
• Installation & Commissioning: Assist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of new mechanical equipment and systems, ensuring alignment with operational and regulatory requirements.
• Spare Parts Management: Monitor inventory of spare parts, recommend procurement, and ensure availability of critical components to support maintenance schedules.
• Collaboration: Work closely with production teams, quality assurance, and other engineering disciplines to optimize equipment performance and support manufacturing goals.
• Safety & Risk Management: Adhere to safety protocols, conduct risk assessments, and implement measures to maintain a safe working environment.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process and equipment improvements, implement modifications, and support lean manufacturing initiatives.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing environment.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in maintaining and troubleshooting mechanical systems such as HVAC, pumps, motors, and pneumatic systems.
• Knowledge of GMP, FDA regulations, and other pharmaceutical industry standards.
• Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Soft Skills:
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
