Job Description: Collection Strategy

Job Title: Manager/Senior Manager Collection Strategy

Department: Collections & Recovery

Location: Bangalore

Reports To: Head Collections Strategy

Role Objective:

To drive strategic initiatives in collections across the customer lifecycle by leveraging data-driven insights, predictive modeling, segmentation strategies, and digital collection tools to optimize recovery rates, reduce bounce, and enhance operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement data-driven collection strategies across customer segments (pre-due, bounce, NPA, write-off, settlements).
  • Build predictive models using statistical techniques (e.g., logistic regression, random forest, XGBoost) to:
  • Predict bounce probability.
  • Prioritize recovery efforts.
  • Identify high-propensity-to-pay customers in write-off pools.
  • Design and execute customer segmentation strategies for differentiated collection actions (e.g., auto-cure, legal communication, settlements).
  • Collaborate with digital partners (e.g., CreditMate, Paytm, Credgenix) for low-cost, digital recovery interventions like WhatsApp/SMS/BOT campaigns.
  • Monitor the performance of collection campaigns using BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) and deliver actionable insights.
  • Optimize field and tele-collection agent allocation through capacity planning and portfolio-level analysis.
  • Coordinate with Data Science, Legal, Risk, and Product teams for end-to-end strategy execution and compliance alignment.
  • Ensure all strategies are aligned with regulatory and compliance requirements.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Technical Skills:
  • Python, SQL, PySpark
  • Statistical modeling (Logistic Regression, Decision Trees, Random Forest, XGBoost)
  • Power BI / Tableau
  • SAS (added advantage)
  • Domain Expertise:
  • Collections & Recovery – Retail Lending (Secured & Unsecured)
  • Bounce management and NPA resolution
  • Digital debt collection strategy
  • Bureau data interpretation and usage in strategy
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong analytical mindset with solution-oriented thinking
  • Effective communication for cross-functional stakeholder management
  • Ability to handle large datasets and draw business insights
  • Innovation mindset for continuous improvement in strategy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Statistics / Economics / Finance or related field
  • 3–6 years of experience in Collections Strategy / Data Science in BFSI/NBFC/Fintech domain
  • Hands-on experience in managing digital and data-driven recovery initiatives

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working with external recovery/digital partners
  • Exposure to Retail Lending portfolios like Credit Cards, Personal Loans, Business Loans
  • Awards or internal recognitions for performance in collections strategy or data science
