Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Analyze and optimize existing database schemas, queries, and performance for both SQL and NoSQL environments.
  • Design and implement new database architectures to support business applications and growth.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate database solutions with application logic.
  • Implement and maintain database security, backup, and recovery strategies.
  • Drive the adoption of best practices for database management, including indexing, partitioning, and query optimization.
  • Work with cloud-based databases (e.g., AWS RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Google Cloud SQL, or Azure Cosmos DB) to ensure scalability and high availability.
  • Support the development of new features, including data modeling for future enhancements.
  • Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide proactive solutions.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required

  • Deep proficiency in MySQL and/or PostgreSQL, including advanced query optimization, indexing, triggers, stored procedures, and schema design.
  • Strong experience with MongoDB and/or Redis, including document modeling, sharding, replication, and performance tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud database platforms such as AWS RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Google Cloud SQL, or Azure Cosmos DB.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex performance bottlenecks in high-traffic environments.
  • Expertise in designing efficient, scalable schemas for both relational and non-relational databases.
  • Familiarity with database monitoring tools (e.g., New Relic, Datadog), ORM frameworks, and ETL processes.
  • Strong communication skills and experience working in cross-functional teams with developers, DevOps, and product managers.
  • Familiarity with database migration strategies between on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of containerized database deployments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Database Specialty, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer).
  • Knowledge of database security best practices, encryption, and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).

Experience

  • 8+ years of professional experience in database design, optimization, and administration.

Education Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.

Work Location

  • Mangalore, Karnataka (Currently we are not open to remote work option)
