We are looking to add a foundational hire who will help shape the counseling strategy and student journey within Lorien Finance.

Role Overview

As the
Lead – Overseas Admissions Counseling
, you will:

• Drive the
  counseling strategy and delivery model
  across key English-speaking destinations (US, UK, Canada, Australia, and beyond).
• Translate your
  on-ground counseling expertise
  into scalable product features and workflows in collaboration with product, design, and AI teams.
• Act as the
  subject matter expert
  on undergraduate admissions, ensuring Lorien Finance delivers world-class guidance for students and families.
• Build and lead a
  small team of counselors and mentors
  over time to scale the student support function.

This is not just a counseling role—it is a critical product + strategy role where your expertise will directly shape Lorien Finance's platform, content, and value proposition.

Key Responsibilities

1. Counseling Strategy & Delivery

2. Define the student journey roadmap from high school freshman year to college applications.

3. Provide expert guidance on admissions strategy, extracurricular development, essay writing, and interview preparation.

4. Ensure multi-country coverage: US, UK, Canada, Australia, and other major destinations.

5. Product Development Input

6. Work with product/tech teams to codify counseling processes into Lorien Finance's AI-powered app.

7. Provide feedback on features like career roadmaps, application checklists, AI essay reviews, and smart notes.

8. Identify areas where human mentoring must stay intact vs. what can be automated.

9. Team Leadership & Training

10. Mentor and train junior counselors as the team grows.

11. Establish best practices, SOPs, and quality benchmarks for counseling within Lorien Finance.

12. Contribute to building a strong "student-first" culture.

13. Parent & Student Engagement

14. Engage with high-net-worth families, explaining the value proposition of Lorien Finance.

15. Act as a trusted advisor in high-stakes admissions journeys.

16. Market Insight & Continuous Learning

17. Stay updated on global admissions trends, visa updates, and university policies.

18. Help Lorien Finance maintain an edge against agencies like Crimson, Athena, and The Red Pen.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 6–10 years of experience
  in undergraduate overseas admissions counseling (Athena, Crimson, The Red Pen, or equivalent agencies preferred).
• Deep expertise in
  US and UK undergraduate admissions
  , with working knowledge of Canada, Australia, and other destinations.
• Strong understanding of
  college essays, extracurricular strategy, standardized tests (SAT/ACT, UCAS, IB, AP, etc.)
  .
• Comfort working in an
  early-stage startup
  where processes are still being built.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills (both with students and parents).
• Ability to work cross-functionally with
  tech/product teams
  , not just counseling delivery.
