Role Overview

We are looking for a proactive and design-oriented Social Media Manager who understands professional communication and can take full ownership of ideating, designing, and publishing consistent, high-quality content across platforms. This role requires a strong sense of aesthetic, a working knowledge of the edtech space, and an ability to stay current with evolving social media trends.

This is not just an execution role we are seeking someone who can actively contribute creative direction, propose relevant content ideas, and be accountable for publishing outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage a weekly content calendar across LinkedIn, Instagram, and our internal app
  • Research and propose social media concepts based on emerging trends especially within the education and edtech sectors
  • Take ownership of content publishing and ensure consistency across all platforms
  • Design static visuals using Canva , based on both provided briefs and original ideas
  • Draft post copy aligned with Urban School's brand tone (professional, grounded, and community-centric)
  • Monitor performance metrics such as impressions, saves, and engagement to inform future content
  • Coordinate with the founder and internal teams to translate product updates or field insights into social content
  • Handle minor video or reel editing tasks if needed (basic editing only)
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience managing professional social media pages
  • Proficient in Canva, with a strong sense of visual clarity and layout (portfolio or samples preferred)
  • Awareness of social media metrics , trends, and best practices for audience engagement
  • Ability to independently plan, execute, and improve content without micromanagement
  • Excellent writing skills, with an understanding of tone and brevity for digital audiences
  • Reliable, organized, and consistent in delivery
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with EdTech, early-stage startups, or educator-facing brands
  • Familiarity with tools like Notion, Buffer, Hootsuite, or other scheduling/collaboration tools
  • Basic comfort with lightweight editing tools
