Category Manager - General Merchandise

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Category Manager for our General Merchandise division. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving growth and profitability of the General Merchandise category while ensuring superior customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the entire General Merchandise category independently, overseeing procurement, vendor relationships, and inventory management
  • Develop and execute long-term strategies to optimize the product range and drive category growth
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with brands and suppliers, leveraging top-level contacts to secure competitive pricing and terms
  • Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities
  • Ensure timely order fulfillment, meeting aggressive delivery timelines for customers.
  • Negotiate deals with brands to maintain DealBerg's price competitiveness in the market
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, and supply chain, to implement category-specific plans and pricing strategies
  • Monitor category performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective measures as needed
  • Forecast product demand and manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5-12 years of experience in category management, preferably in General Merchandise or related industry.
  • Proven track record of driving category growth and profitability in a B2B environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and category management tools.
  • Understanding of the Indian B2B market and General Merchandise procurement landscape.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding startup environment with independence and initiative.
  • Sound knowledge of General Merchandise product categories, including Home and Kitchen products.
