Job Purpose: Leads, manages, and supports projects related to process and product improvements using Lean, Six Sigma and project management methodologies to achieve business goals. The primary objective of this role is to use basic engineering disciplines along with the fact-based decision-making tools to resolve complex product, technology, and manufacturing process issues. Incumbent shall function as the project leader for BIQ/CPI projects addressing quality, regulatory, or current product improvements for various STH (Seals, Tubes & Hardware) components. To lead and participate from project/issue requirement definition till production of the iron in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability. Job Roles & Responsibilities: • Lead and execute defined Built-in-Quality (BIQ) Projects. BIQ Projects are to be run as accelerated internal CPI Quality Projects. Walk back the identified quality issue. Identify Root Cause. Implement Permanent Corrective Action. • Communicate status at BIQ Governance review. • Identify future BIQ Projects. Other Responsibilities • Designing and developing Six Sigma programs, including supporting systems and tools, for quality and business process improvement. • Leading and managing Six Sigma project portfolios to achieve measurable business process improvements. • Providing technical training and guidance for Green Belt professionals on the planning, development and implementation of Six Sigma projects. • Employing Six Sigma methodology into organizational operations to meet business goals and objectives. Background/Experience: Requires a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering curriculum plus 9-12 years of product development experience or a master’s degree in mechanical engineering curriculum plus 6-8 years of experience or a doctorate degree plus > 5 years of experience. Incumbents must have demonstrated excellent analytical skills and the ability to perform complex assignments. Requires a self-starter with strong technical leadership skills. Must have ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well as employees in other units, customers, and suppliers. Knowledgeable design process & tools – Good understanding of APQP, DFMEA, GD&T, Concurrent product & process development and Change management process. Working Knowledge on 6 sigma DMAIC & Lean methodology and tools. Preferred to have project management experience and related certification is added advantage. • Strong Analytical Engineer – Strong understanding of engineering basics, DOE (using hand calculations, FEA analysis), Probabilistic life risk analysis, understanding structures & performance characteristics. • Able Technical Know-How & Problem-Solving Engineer - Should be able to understand techno commercial aspects of design, design for manufacturability, product behaviours in field. Solve complex engineering challenges. • Product Development lifecycle Know How - It is expected to have participated in at least one full product development cycle to provide end to end complex engineering solutions encompassing design, analysis, test & validation, and field issue resolution. • Effective Project Lead and Team Player – Leverage large/light structures, Hydraulic integration, Engine installation & cooling, machine integration sub design team’s strengths. Foster strong collaboration with component teams & cross functional teams for product initiatives/strategies. Removing and elevating project barriers. Integrating issues with other projects/processes and coordinating with the appropriate project/process owners to accomplish project goals. • Effective Communicator – Understand and communicate the complex technical problems effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Product Quality Focus – To manage and achieve 2/12 MIS product quality goals. • Recruiting, training and leading project team members.
