Responsibilities- Expert knowledge of DB2 version 11/12 on the z/OS platform- Ability to work within a team environment and communicate effectively with others- Represent the database team in application development projects with business analysts- Promote DB2 best practices and new features to developers during application design and implementation- Ability to mentor others, including junior DBAs and application developers, as well as clearly explain complex technical issues to business analysts and end users- Proficiency with logical and physical data modeling design concepts- Solid performance tuning experience in assisting developers with SQL queries, indexing, stored procedures, triggers and resolving concurrency issues- Experience with table partitioning and maintaining very large databases- Creation and maintenance of database objects (tables, columns, indexes, etc)- Implement best practices for database backup and recovery strategies- Experience in setting and scheduling of database maintenance utilities, with different restrictive levels tailored to application usage with the organization.- Demonstrated knowledge of third party tools (Omegamon, IBM DB2 Admin, BMC, CDB, CA, etc)- Ability to make decisions and demonstrate problem solving skills, analysis, prioritization and risk taking- Ability to plan and execute a project to completion- Demonstrate personal ownership of assignments- Proactively raise and resolve issues- Strong ability to multitaskQualifications- Bachelors degree required- Several years experience in a senior DBA role supporting DB2 (version 9 or higher) production systems in a 24x7 business environment- IBM Certification is a plus
