The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control (QC) Manager to oversee the end-to-end review of our animated educational video collections across disciplines such as business, mathematics, physical sciences, and life sciences. As QC Manager, you will manage the quality review of video collections and will coordinate closely with the content development and production teams to ensure accuracy, clarity, and on-time delivery. You will also hire, guide, and manage freelance subject matter expert (SME) reviewers to maintain the highest standards of quality and academic rigor.

Responsibilities

  • Review animated educational concept videos for academic accuracy, conceptual clarity, animation–script alignment, and pedagogical value.
  • Understand and comment meaningfully on a variety of 2D visual representations, such as animated characters, abstract icons, graphs, and metaphoric visuals.
  • Ensure all videos meet JoVE's standards for scientific/academic quality, accessibility, and instructional coherence.
  • Collaborate with both the content and production teams to resolve feedback and maintain quality through iterations.
  • Track progress across multiple active video collections simultaneously in the Google ecosystem (Google Sheets and Docs), managing timelines, assignments, review status, and QC progress.
  • Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and performance management of freelance SME reviewers, ensuring consistent standards and turnaround times.

Requirements:

  • A Master's or Ph.D in STEM, business, or education.
  • 3–6 years of experience in academic content QC or educational video production.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple short-term projects in parallel using Excel or other tracking tools.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to spot both content errors and production glitches.
  • Excellent communication skills—must be able to give constructive feedback clearly.
  • Strong working knowledge of Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, etc.)
  • Familiarity with 2D animation formats and ability to give feedback on visual storytelling and pacing.
  • Experience working with cross-functional creative teams, managing timelines and content revisions.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment.
