Role Overview:

The Tool & Design Head (Tool & Die) will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and management of tool and die systems within the organization. This role involves leading new product development, ensuring tooling validation, and driving process improvements in the tool room, specifically focused on metal forging operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in both hot and cold forging, as well as deep expertise in tool and die design, process optimization, and team management.

Experience:

15+ years of experience in tool and die design, tool room facility setup & management, managing tool rooms equipped with the latest software and advanced technologies and new product development, with a focus on metal forging & Proven expertise in handling hot and cold forging projects and the associated tool and die systems from concept to production.

Key Responsibilities:Tool & Die Design & Development:Lead the design and development of high-quality tools and dies for metal forging applications, including both hot and cold forging.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive new product development and validate designs that meet forging requirements.Tool Room Facility Setup & Management:Lead the establishment of a state-of-the-art tool room facility from the ground up, including planning, layout design, equipment selection, and process setup.Leverage prior experience in setting up and managing tool rooms equipped with the latest software and advanced technologies.Ensure the smooth operation of the tool room, incorporating modern systems for tool design, manufacturing, and maintenance.Tool Room Management:Oversee the tool room operations, including planning, scheduling, and maintenance of tooling systems and equipment.Implement best practices for tool room management, including preventive maintenance, resource optimization, and die lifecycle management.Hot & Cold Forging Expertise:Lead the design and validation of dies and tooling systems specifically for hot and cold forging processes.Address and resolve tooling and die challenges in production to optimize tool life and efficiency.New Product Development (NPD):Drive NPD initiatives by designing and developing tools and dies that meet precise product specifications and performance requirements.Ensure seamless integration from design to manufacturing by coordinating with production teams.Tooling Validation & Process Improvement:Lead tooling and die validation processes through rigorous testing, ensuring high durability and compliance with quality standards.Continuously assess and enhance tooling processes using lean manufacturing techniques and advanced solutions tailored to metal forging and die development.Team Leadership & Training:Mentor and guide a team of design engineers, tool room personnel, and technicians.Promote a culture of continuous learning through regular training and skill development programs focused on tool and die technology.

Qualifications & Skills:Educational Background:Diploma in Tool & Die Making from NTTF (Nettur Technical Training Foundation) preferred.Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is also acceptable, with a preference for NTTF qualification for specialized expertise.Technical Skills:Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for tool and die design.In-depth knowledge of tooling and die validation processes, forging technologies, and quality control.Familiarity with process improvement methodologies like Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing.Leadership Abilities:Strong leadership skills with experience in managing cross-functional teams.Excellent communication and project management skills.Key Attributes:Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.Innovative and process-driven mindset.Why Join Us?Opportunity to lead and innovate in the field of tool and die design for metal forging applications.Be part of a dynamic team within a growth-oriented organization.Attractive compensation and benefits package.
