About the Role :

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our Housing Finance business. In this role, you will leverage data-driven insights and machine learning techniques to build cutting-edge credit risk models and scalable solutions that empower smarter lending decisions. You will work at the intersection of finance, data science, and technology, directly contributing to portfolio health, risk optimization, and customer growth strategies.

This is a high-impact role where your models and solutions will influence credit scoring, underwriting strategies, fraud detection, and long-term financial risk management.

Key Responsibilities :

- Credit Risk Modelling : Design, develop, and implement advanced risk models, including scorecards, regression models, decision trees, ensemble methods (GBM, XGBoost, LightGBM), and other ML techniques.

- Decisioning & Risk Analytics : Support credit decisioning frameworks by delivering robust analytics and ensuring data-driven portfolio risk management.

- Data Science Solutions : Leverage Python / R, SQL, and statistical modelling to create scalable risk solutions for large datasets.

- Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with risk, credit, product, and technology teams to ensure accurate model validation, monitoring, and business alignment.

- Model Lifecycle Management : Regularly evaluate, calibrate, and monitor models to ensure compliance, accuracy, and predictive power over time.

- Innovation & Research : Stay updated with the latest advancements in machine learning, AI, and financial risk practices, and apply them to improve existing solutions.

Skills & Experience Required :

- 3+ years of hands-on experience in data science, financial analytics, or risk modelling.

- Proven expertise in Python or R, SQL, and advanced statistical techniques.

- Strong foundation in machine learning algorithms, feature engineering, and model evaluation.

- Prior exposure to credit scoring, consumer lending, or financial risk analytics is highly preferred.

- Excellent problem-solving, analytical thinking, and communication skills.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced, data-driven environment with multiple stakeholders.
