Title : Staff / Principal Backend Engineer

Key Responsibilities :

- Drive system design, platform architecture, and self-serve engineering capabilities across high-scale microservices and real-time systems.

- Own end-to-end delivery of critical initiatives, from scoping and design to deployment, scaling, and monitoring.

- Lead and execute multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring quality, performance, and on-time delivery.

- Act as a hands-on developer, solving complex problems and converting ambiguity into working, reliable software.

- Build scalable, resilient systems using Java (Spring Boot), Event-Driven Architectures, and NoSQL databases (e.g., ScyllaDB, MongoDB).

- Solve high-throughput, low-latency challenges across search, pricing, availability, and booking workflows.

- Utilize AI-powered development tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor) to enhance velocity and accuracy.

- Collaborate with Product, Infra, Data, and Architecture teams to align on business and technical objectives.

- Conduct rigorous code and design reviews, ensuring clean, maintainable, and performant Skills (Required) :

- Backend Development : 1012+ years (Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate).

- Distributed Systems : Event-driven architectures, SQS/Kinesis, backpressure, fault tolerance.

- Databases : ScyllaDB, MongoDB, or other NoSQL options.

- Performance Tuning : Profiling, memory management, latency optimizations.

- Observability : Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch.

- Automation Culture : Building internal tools, frameworks, or platforms.

- Systems Thinking : Consistency models, circuit breakers, low-latency design, platform to Have :

- Experience with LLM pipelines, RAG, or agentic AI workflows.

- Exposure to Databricks, Spark, or similar large-scale data frameworks.

- Experience building internal developer platforms or golden paths.

- Knowledge of React or full-stack systems.

- Prior experience in B2B marketplaces or :

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field

(Masters preferred for Principal-level roles).

Soft Skills :

- Proven ability to influence architecture, own systems, and deliver critical projects

independently or with small teams.

- Goal-driven, results-focused professional with strong prioritization skills.

- Excellent communication, mentorship, and stakeholder management.

- Self-starter, problem solver, and growth mindset, comfortable in remote-first, async, and ownership-heavy environments.
