Associate Director/Director –Business Development


  • We are looking for ambitious, energetic and experienced sales professionals who are looking to further their careers in the Consumer Insights industry. This role will require you to work closely with the leadership team to design growth strategies, build new client relations while nurturing existing client relationships and manage P&L for the consumer and retail insights vertical for Market Xcel. As a people leader, you will also be able to motivate team members to build capabilities and strive for excellence. In this role, you will be expected to initially work independently and gradually start building a team of sales and BD managers to onboard new clients.


Roles & Responsibility


  • The primary responsibility (70%) will be to identify & and develop new business opportunities amongst existing clients the profile will also require working closely with the BD/sales team to acquire new accounts in India and Globally.
  • The secondary responsibility(30%) is to serve as the account lead for Market Xcel’s existing clients, with responsibility for recurring revenue & and margin assurance and ensure appropriate high levels of service to those clients.
  • Developing, maintaining and growing relationships with their identified clients, ensuring that their needs are being met and that they are receiving appropriate levels of service from the insights delivery teams.
  • Generate a healthy revenue funnel month on month aligning to the monthly, quarterly, and yearly revenue goals.
  • Finding new calls for tenders for India and global research studies and responding to them by submitting comprehensive research proposals (including design and pricing elements) and pitch presentations in collaboration with delivery teams.
  • Identifying new business initiatives and leveraging skills across units.
  • Creating an environment that fosters new work/innovations /solutions.
  • Achieving growth and managing business financials.
  • Training and career development of staff.
  • Driving thought leadership in teams.
  • Negotiation of acceptable costs and contract agreements with the clients.
  • Overseeing the work of juniors and coordinating of work of different internal stakeholders.
  • This role will require travel.


Experience & Qualification


  • At least 10 years of experience in sales and consumer insights.
  • Proven knowledge of market research.
  • Background and experience in P&L management.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong client relationships.
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative methodologies is an added advantage.
