Job Title: Senior Cognos BI Developer Corporate Title: Associate Location: Bangalore, India Role Description We are seeking a skilled BI professional with expertise in Cognos BI to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess deep, hands-on expertise in Cognos Analytics across development, administration, and full lifecycle management, including significant involvement in upgrades and migrations. This role requires strong leadership, comprehensive knowledge of the SDLC process, and specialized domain expertise in Asset Management. Proficiency in other major BI platforms like Tableau and Power BI is also essential for driving our multi-platform BI strategy. In this role: You will be part of the DWS BI & Reporting Core Platform team; support overall BI road maps and contribute to strategic improvements of services with a strong focus on creating valuable insights. You will work with internal Business Users to formulate the requirements for their analytical problems, independently develop solutions, perform validation and integration data testing, and provide ongoing support on existing BI dashboards & reports. You will ensure compliance with process-related, functional and technical specifications and the fulfillment of all quality-related requirements, such as documentation, in the developed solutions. Oversee and execute end-to-end Cognos upgrades and platform migrations (e.g., from older Cognos versions, or other BI tools) ensuring minimal disruption and leveraging new features. Manage the Cognos Analytics environment and administration, including security configuration, performance tuning, deployment automation, certificate management, capacity planning, backup/recovery, and troubleshooting across windows and linux environments. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development and administration teams. Define and enforce BI best practices for report development, data modeling (Framework Manager, DataModule, Datasets), ETL integration, and platform usage. Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for our multi-platform BI strategy, demonstrating proficiency in Tableau and Power BI for reporting, dashboard creation, and data visualization. Evaluate and recommend appropriate BI tools and technologies based on specific business requirements. Ensure data governance and quality standards are met across all BI platforms. Your skills and experience 15+ years of total experience in Business Intelligence, with a strong focus on enterprise reporting and data warehousing. 10+ years of hands-on experience in Cognos Analytics Development (Reports, Dashboards, Framework Manager Modeling, Cube Design). 5+ years of experience in Cognos Administration (Security, Deployment, Performance Tuning, Server Configuration). Proven experience leading multiple large-scale Cognos upgrades and platform migration projects. Proficiency in one of major BI tools like Qlik, Tableau, Power BI. In-depth, practical knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including formal release and change management processes. Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational and dimensional data models. Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills. Drive the implementation of BI projects following strict SDLC methodologies (Agile/Scrum preferred), ensuring effective requirement gathering, testing, documentation, and deployment. Apply Asset Management domain knowledge to translate complex business needs (e.g., portfolio performance, revenue analytics, regulatory reporting, asset valuation) into robust and actionable BI solutions.
