About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Sales and Marketing Manager: Base Metals to lead a specialized project focused on establishing and scaling a profitable Base Metals (Primarily Copper Cathode) trading operation. This role involves managing relationships with suppliers, buyers, and logistics providers to build a seamless supply chain for Base Metals (Primarily Copper Cathode) sourced from Zambia.

Key Responsibilities
Business Development:
  • Identify, engage, and build strong relationships with stakeholders in the copper cathode supply chain, including industrial buyers, traders, and suppliers.
  • Develop strategies to connect with downstream industries such as electronics, construction, and energy-requiring Base Metals (Primarily Copper Cathode).
  • Expand the market presence by onboarding reliable trading partners and ensuring sustained demand.
Trading Operations:
  • Negotiate and finalize contracts for the purchase and sale of physical Base Metals (Primarily Copper Cathode).
  • Evaluate and secure competitive pricing through market research and supplier negotiations.
  • Ensure smooth execution of transactions, including managing terms of delivery, payments, and compliance.
Supply Chain Management:
  • Collaborate with logistics providers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of copper cathodes to buyers.
  • Coordinate shipping, warehousing, and distribution while managing risks related to transportation or customs clearance.
  • Resolve operational challenges and ensure minimal disruptions in the supply chain.
Market Intelligence and Risk Management:
  • Stay updated on Base Metals market trends, including global demand, pricing structures, and competitor activity.
  • Identify and mitigate risks such as price volatility, credit exposures, and regulatory changes.
  • Advise on market entry strategies and potential expansion opportunities for long-term growth.

Qualifications and Experience
Professional Background:
  • 5-10+ years of experience in Base Metals (Primarily Copper Cathode) trading, commodity business development, or supply chain management.
  • Demonstrated expertise in handling physical Base Metals deals or similar metals/commodities.
  • Knowledge of the Indian market and familiarity with global Base Metal trading standards.
Technical Expertise:
  • Deep understanding of the copper cathode trading lifecycle, including sourcing, pricing mechanisms, and logistics.
  • Familiarity with London Metal Exchange (LME) pricing benchmarks and trading practices.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements for Base Metal trading.
Skills:
  • Proven negotiation and deal-structuring skills for high-value transactions.
  • Advanced analytical skills to evaluate pricing, market trends, and trade risks.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Excel, CRM systems, and market analytics platforms.
Network and Relationships:
  • Established network within the Base Metals trading ecosystem, including suppliers, traders, and industrial buyers.
  • Experience working with global suppliers and understanding of logistics operations for metals trading.
Soft Skills:
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on results and growth.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for relationship building.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities to navigate a dynamic trading environment.
