Job Description- Head- HSEPosition OverviewThe Head – Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) provides strategic and operational leadership for developing, implementing, and maintaining a world-class HSE framework across the organization’s operations.The role ensures legal compliance, risk mitigation, and promotion of a safety-first culture, while aligning HSE initiatives with business strategy and international best practices. The position serves as the company’s Principal HSE Authority for all regulatory, statutory, and compliance matters.Key Responsibilities1.Strategic Leadershipa.Define and execute the company’s HSE vision, policy, and strategy.b.Set corporate-level HSE goals, targets, and KPIs, and map it to various offices/ business divisionsc.Develop a global HSE governance structure.d.Drive organizational commitment toward Zero Harm and Zero Non-Compliance.2.Legal & Statutory Compliancea.Ensure adherence to the applicable HSE laws and regulationsb.Ensure documentation as per the legal requirementsc.Liaise with authorities for inspections, permits, and renewals.d.Ensure all licenses, approvals, and consents are valid.e.Serve as company’s representative for audits and statutory matters.f.Legal handling of the fatalities/incidents in office/at site3.HSE Management Systems & Governance/ Auditsa.Develop and maintain Corporate HSE Management System (ISO 45001 / ISO 14001).b.Conduct internal audits, periodic site audits, inspections, and risk assessments.c.Oversee incident investigations and ensure closure of corrective actions.d.Ensure compliance with environmental regulations. Oversee environmental audits and reporting.4.Risk Management & Operational Safetya.Ensure the following work-related safety documents are made and updated at all times:i.Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA) for all activities of ABSii.Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for all work activities conducted at client siteiii.Safety manuals of the tools and equipment being used in the companyiv.HSE related certificationsb.Develop and maintain a central repository of all such documents for storage and traceability of these documents.c.Ensure compliance with Safe Work Procedures and Permit-to-Work systems.d.Lead emergency preparedness and response planning.5.Training & Culture Buildinga.Ensure Tool-Box Talks are delivered daily on siteb.Ensure the workmen are trained in site-specific safety norms before start of the job and review documentation of the samec.Develop and implement framework for HSE trainings, awareness programs (in office/ on-site), and ensure its adherence- manpower safety/ workplace safety/ tool safetyd.Drive Behavior-Based Safety and employee participation through rewards & recognition programse.Build a culture of accountability and compliance.6.Safety Material & Equipment Managementa.Monitor PPE procurements and distribution as per the site requirementb.Manage the HSE equipment vendors with cost efficiencyc.Ensure all safety equipment is maintained in deployable state7.Reporting & Continuous Improvementa.Visit the major working sites across India (international sites if required) for meeting the client, auditing the safe work practices and training the workmenb.Facilitate management reviews of HSE reports and monitor KPI achievement.Qualifications & Experience·Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, or related field).·Postgraduate Diploma / Master’s in Industrial Safety or Environmental Management preferred.·NEBOSH / IOSH / ISO 45001 Lead Auditor certifications preferred.·15–20 years of progressive HSE experience, including 5 years in a leadership role.·Strong knowledge of industrial safety, environmental, and legal compliance frameworks.Core Competencies·In-depth knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks.·Strategic planning and HSE leadership.·Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.·Excellent communication and influencing ability.·Ethical conduct and data-driven decision-making.
