Employee Relations Specialist


Title: Employee Relations (ER) Specialist, APAC.

Overview:

- As an Employee Relations Specialist, the role holder in the capacity of an individual contributor will have a vital role in maintaining positive relationships between the organization and its employees by being responsible, accountable for the employee relations policies thereby ensuring a supportive work environment and providing a channel for employee grievance redressal mechanism.

- The primary responsibilities will include addressing employee grievances, drafting employee relations policies, and ensuring their effective implementation. The role holder will serve as a liaison between employees and management, advocating for fair treatment and fostering a supportive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Policy Development and Implementation:

- Collaborate with HR team members and management to develop employee relations policies and procedures.

- Provide industry insights and best practices along with legal, Statutory and compliance requirements while drafting out policies.

- Be engaged to draft and revise employee handbooks, policies based on the codes of conduct, and other relevant documents.

- Communicate policy changes effectively to employees through training sessions, meetings, and written communication.

- Monitor policy adherence and provide guidance to employees and managers on interpretation and implementation.

2. Employee Grievance Handling:

- Develop a channel for employee grievances to be routed to HR.

- Receive and investigate employee grievances in a timely and confidential manner.

- Conduct thorough interviews and involve required parties to gather relevant information.

- Analyze findings and recommend appropriate resolutions in compliance with company policies and legal regulations.

- Mediate disputes between employees and facilitate conflict resolution processes.

- Document all grievance proceedings and outcomes for future reference and analysis.

3. Employee Relations Support:

- Provide guidance and support to managers and supervisors on employee relations issues.

- Assist in conducting investigations related to misconduct, harassment, discrimination, or other policy violations.

- Participate in employee disciplinary actions and terminations as necessary, ensuring fairness and adherence to company policies and legal requirements.

- Collaborate with other HR functions, such as recruitment and training, to promote a positive employee experience and enhance retention.

4. Reporting and Analysis:

- Create repository of cases that can provide a good basis for analysis, trends and improvements/ simplification.

- Compile data on employee relations activities, including grievances, investigations, and policy adherence.

- Generate regular reports for management review, highlighting trends, areas of concern, and recommended actions.

- Analyze data to identify opportunities for process improvement and risk mitigation strategies.

- Maintain accurate records and databases related to employee relations activities.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Bachelor's/Master's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field - Preferred

- A minimum of at least 8 years in employee relations.

- Strong understanding of employment laws, regulations, and best practices.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

- Analytical mindset with attention to detail.

- Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) software.
