Product Development Merchant Manager


The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with an entrepreneurial mindset. You are a proven leader who will own the end to end cycle of Product Development. You are okay to work in an unstructured environment.


A product development manager, or PDM, oversees the process of creating or improving products from start to finish, working with a team to ensure that the products meet customer needs and business goals. They lead a product’s market research, assessing and coordinating front.


The candidate's responsibility will be to work on a cross-functional team of talented individuals and ensure the product is built with integrity, and intention and aligned with our brand vision and values. The ideal candidate will have a proven product development track record in the hardline industry. As a member of the Product Development team, you will participate in developing and executing products to align with Designer's  vision and the overarching business strategy of our rapidly-growing brands QT /ST.  Additionally, the team is responsible for product innovation that solves the problems of our consumers. The ideal candidate will work closely and collaboratively with Design, Technical Design, Sourcing, Planning, and Merchandising teams to create beautiful and innovative products.


Responsible for:


  • Manage the product creation process from design handoff to production approval.
  • Establish and execute the brand strategy for the hardlines: product to achieve financial, quality, and product integrity goals
  • Ensure milestones are met and the product creation process is standardised across categories.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams from Design and Sourcing to ensure on-time delivery per set calendar dates each season.
  • Manage multi-season development calendars and the execution of all tasks related to the Product Development cycle
  • Responsible for Key Performance indicators that include but are not limited to maintaining vendor scorecard, samples, production 
  • Work with Sourcing on the allocation of bulk orders to appropriate suppliers through consideration of available capacity, capability, workmanship, and costing


Requirements & Skills 


  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Must be passionate about working in a startup environment and solving a problem
  • Must have 10-15 years of experience in the hardline industry
  • Team handled minimum 7
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects on an ongoing basis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with an appropriate sense of emergency.
  • Commitment and superior attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team environment, build trust and relationships with vendor & cross-functional partners
