QA Automation Lead

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced QA Automation Lead with 8–12 years of proven expertise in automation testing across web, mobile, and platform ecosystems. The role requires a hands-on leader who can design robust automation strategies, mentor QA teams, and drive quality engineering initiatives across multiple products and platforms.

Accountabilities

• Deliver high-quality, stable, and maintainable test automation scripts
• Ensure continuous test execution and timely feedback through CI/CD pipelines
• Maintain and enhance automation frameworks to support project needs
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to support fast and reliable releases
• Ensure test coverage aligns with business and technical requirements
• Track and report defects clearly, ensuring timely resolution
• Continuously evaluate and improve automation efficiency and effectiveness
• Promote a culture of quality and testing best practices within the team

Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

• Lead and mentor a team of QA engineers across diverse product lines and platforms.
• Define and implement automation test strategies, frameworks, and best practices.
• Ensure scalability, maintainability, and reusability of automation suites.

Automation Expertise

• Architect and maintain automation frameworks using Cypress, Playwright, and Appium.
• Establish CI/CD-integrated automation pipelines for faster releases.
• Enable shift-left testing by integrating automation early in the development cycle.

Quality Engineering

• Collaborate with Product Managers, Developers, and DevOps to ensure end-to-end product quality. Drive test coverage across functional, regression, performance, and integration testing.
• Proactively identify risks, gaps, and areas for continuous quality improvement.

Team Development

• Coach and upskill QA engineers on automation best practices and emerging tools.
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and innovation within the QA function.
• Balance hands-on automation work with people and process leadership.

Desired skills & competencies

Must-Have Skills:

• 8–12 years of professional experience in software testing with a strong focus on test automation.
• Hands-on expertise in Cypress, Playwright, and Appium.
• Strong programming/scripting knowledge in JavaScript/TypeScript or Java/Python.
• Experience in setting up automation frameworks from scratch and scaling them across teams.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar).
• Exposure to cloud-based testing platforms (e.g., BrowserStack, Sauce Labs).
• Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, Agile practices, and DevOps integration.
• Proven experience in leading distributed teams, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration.

Good to Have:

• Knowledge of API automation (REST, GraphQL) using tools like Postman, REST Assured, or similar.
• Experience with performance testing (JMeter, k6) or security testing practices.
• Familiarity with containerization and cloud-native environments (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/Azure/GCP).
• ISTQB/Agile certifications or equivalent.
