Electrical Lead- IBC India Factory


Job Description & Qualifications:

 

At IBC (International Battery Company, Inc.), we are building proprietary NMC & I-NMC Prismatic cells for mobility applications (EVs) that will reduce battery complexity, have 40% higher energy density than LFP cells, and are recyclable. The bedrock of IBC is relentless innovation, product-market fit obsession, and no-frills execution. You will work to deliver breakthrough engineering design and solutions in battery technology and be the engineering prowess in the industry.


Electrical Lead - IBC India Factory will work in the Infrastructure team in India and supporting teams in the US to support the design and build out of IBC’s Bangalore campus.


The Electrical Lead- IBC India Factory will be responsible for leading the design, sourcing, Installation commissioning, Operation and maintenance of Electrical Facilities of IBC India GIGA Factory.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead design and commissioning of all facilities electrical systems including Switchyards, EHT/HT/LT/LV systems, power conditioning systems, UPS and backup power systems.
  • Provide technical expertise to IBC subcontractors and vendors on facilities electrical systems by responding to queries and reviewing drawings. 
  • Manage installation of facilities electrical systems for the IBC gigafactories
  • Assist in design/commissioning of building management system software (BMS) in relevant areas such as energy monitoring and management
  • Assist in design and installation of facilities network equipment and data center.
  • Make recommendations to equipment vendors on design elements suitable for IBC integration process requirements
  • Lead creation of controls narrative documents for all electrical systems.
  • Create and manage commissioning checklists and punch lists during factory installation and commissioning
  • Communicate effectively with larger teams both domestically and internationally


Requirements:

  • Strong background in Li ion cell manufacturing technologies or other process intensive technologies such as pharmaceutical or food manufacturing.
  • Understanding of permitting and statutory approval requirements for relevant systems
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in electrical systems design for process intensive industrial buildings
  • Ability to lead technical efforts to troubleshoot issues that may arise in equipment startup.
  • Able to execute multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelors or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering or related field 
  • Commercial/industrial battery experience is preferred.
  • Capable of working in low moisture dry room environment: < 1.0% Relative Humidity (-50°C dew point)
  • Capable of wearing clean room attire when working in dry room environment: face mask, hair net, safety glasses, gloves, coverall suit and shoe covers
  • Capable of meeting OSHA standards for manual lifting guidelines: < 50lbs
