The Opportunity

At Cairn Oil & Gas, we are executing our next phase of growth and looking for a leader to manage the Insurance portfolio.


Job responsibilities include:

  • Assessing & Analyzing Insurance requirements of Cairn Oil & Gas.
  • Manage the complete Insurance portfolio of cairn both on Assets as well as Liabilities side.
  • Advice HR on employee related insurance matters.
  • Coordinating & Negotiating with Insurance, Reinsures Brokers to source various Insurance products on best terms & conditions.
  • Consolidation & scanning of entire Insurance portfolio to avoid any duplication or over Insurance.
  • Act as a central point for all Insurance requirements of Cairn. It includes coordinating with various departments in the organization, insurance companies, Re-insurance, underwriters, Brokers etc.
  • Ensure timely renewal of all Insurance at the best terms.
  • Proactively advise new insurance products & innovative ideas to management. Identify the service, products, and combinations that will best serve and address the requirements and objectives.
  • Ensure best risk mitigation and Management assurance practices.
  • Advise on contractual clauses in relation to Insurance.
  • Account for insurances premium/claim refunds.
  • Revalue assets from time to time for Insurance purposes.
  • Managing claims.
  • Updating Insurance on material developments, additions, deletions etc. to ensure complete coverage all the time with no gaps.
  • Ensure adherence to all the policy obligations under the various Insurance policies.
  • Act as custodian of all policies.
  • Assist Treasury on various insurance related compliances under the various insurance policies.

  • To participate & contribute to Vedanta Group Insurance Council to maximise insurance synergies within the group


Position Requirement:

  • Good exposure of insurance, re-insurance & underwriting market in India & London with experience of 7 to 10 years.
  • Good knowledge & hands-on experience of placing large insurance programmes in international markets.
  • Strong hold on legal interpretation, data management & analysis.
  • Excellent knowledge of insurance industry & thorough understanding of insurance products & other related issues.
  • Self-starter to establish a proactive insurance desk.
  • Excellent level of communication, both written & oral, as the job involves continuous interaction with outsiders & other departments within the group.
  • Business orientation & horizon to grow for a broad base role.
  • Preferable but not essential – previous work experience of handling large oil & gas insurance.
  • Currently working with an insurance broker / insurance company(non-life)/ large corporate.
