Description :Job Title : Senior System AdministratorLocation : Chandigarh, India (On-site)Experience Required : 3 to 6 YearsPosition Type : Full-TimePosition Overview :Cogniter Technologies is seeking an experienced Senior System Administrator to join our IT infrastructure team.The ideal candidate will be responsible for the administration, security, and optimization of the companys servers, systems, and network infrastructure.This is a critical role that ensures the seamless operation of IT services in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.You will play a key part in maintaining business continuity by proactively managing IT resources and responding promptly to technical challenges.Key Responsibilities :- Configure, maintain, and optimize physical and virtual servers, systems, and IT hardware to ensure high availability and reliability.- Manage and support network infrastructure components including LAN, WAN, VPNs, firewalls, and switches.- Provide timely technical support for hardware, software, and network-related issues to minimize operational downtime.- Monitor system and network performance using industry-standard monitoring tools; proactively identify and address potential issues.- Implement, manage, and enforce IT security policies, including firewall configurations, antivirus solutions, access controls, and vulnerability management.- Ensure data integrity and availability through scheduled backups, system snapshots, and comprehensive disaster recovery planning.- Install, configure, patch, and update applications, operating systems, and system software across the infrastructure.- Troubleshoot complex technical problems across servers, networks, and user endpoints with a focus on swift resolution.- Maintain detailed and up-to-date documentation on system configurations, network diagrams, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.- Collaborate closely with the IT team during system upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure improvement projects.- Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in system administration and IT security.Qualifications :Experience : 3 to 6 years of proven professional experience in system administration, IT infrastructure management, or IT support roles.Technical Skills :- Strong proficiency with Windows Server (2012, 2016, 2019) and/or Linux system administration (CentOS, Ubuntu, RedHat).- Deep understanding of networking protocols and services such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and VLANs.- Hands-on experience managing Active Directory, Group Policy, and user account lifecycle management.- Skilled in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex hardware, software, and network issues.- Familiarity with backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, Veritas) and disaster recovery procedures.- Knowledge of IT security frameworks and best practices, including firewalls, endpoint security, and compliance standards.Soft Skills :- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.- Excellent communication skills to interact with technical teams and non-technical users effectively.- Ability to document processes clearly and maintain thorough operational records.Preferred Certifications :- Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)- CompTIA Network+ or Security+- Linux certifications such as RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator) or equivalentPersonal Attributes :- Proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining high-quality IT operations.- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask effectively.- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team environment.- Eagerness to learn and adapt to evolving technologies and IT practices.Why Join Cogniter Technologies ? - Opportunity to work in a growth-oriented, technology-driven environment.- Collaborate with talented IT professionals and contribute to critical infrastructure projects.- Continuous learning and professional development support.- A supportive work culture that values innovation, reliability, and teamwork.
