Role Description

Avaada Energy, the dynamic renewable energy arm of Avaada Group, is on a transformative path to significantly scale its renewable asset portfolio to 30 GWp by December 2030. With a current operational capacity of 4.4 GWp and an additional 15 GWp in development, we are seeking an exceptional Chief Operating Officer (COO) to spearhead our EPC business and provide inspirational leadership to our Project Execution team teams.


This pivotal role demands a visionary leader with a proven track record in the EPC sector, capable of driving operational excellence and fostering a culture of innovation and building exceptional leader. The ideal candidate will bring deep industry knowledge, strategic acumen, and a commitment to team working, aligning with our mission to power a greener tomorrow.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for EPC activities aligned with Avaada Group's overall objectives of scaling its renewable asset portfolio. 
  • Project Management: Lead and manage the end-to-end execution of EPC projects, including scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and risk management. 
  • Construction Management: Oversee all construction activities, including site preparation, equipment preparation, quality control. This entails coordinating with contractors, conducting site inspections and any issue that arise during the construction. 
  • Project Commissioning: Coordinate the commissioning process to ensure that renewable energy systems are installed, tested and operational according to specifications. This involves conducting performance test, troubleshooting any issues, and preparing systems for commercial operations.
  • Team Leadership: Build and mentor a high-performing team of engineers, procurement specialists, and construction professionals to ensure seamless project execution and adherence to quality standards.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including project development, finance, and operations teams, to align EPC activities with broader organizational goals.
  • Vendor Management: Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with EPC contractors, suppliers, and service providers to optimize costs, enhance project efficiency, and ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement robust quality assurance processes and standards to uphold the highest levels of quality, safety, and environmental compliance across all EPC projects.
  • Technology Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in renewable energy EPC to drive innovation and efficiency improvements in project execution.
  • Performance Monitoring: Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to track project performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive continuous optimization of EPC processes.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Affairs: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, permits, and licensing requirements governing EPC activities in the renewable energy sector.
  • Budget and Cost Management: Manage project budgets effectively, monitor expenditure against approved budgets, and implement cost-saving initiatives to optimize project economics and profitability.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in EPC project management, with a focus on renewable energy projects.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale EPC projects from conception to completion.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Deep understanding of renewable energy technologies, construction methodologies, and industry best practices.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant regulations, codes, and standards governing EPC activities in the renewable energy sector.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) is preferred.
