Overview:

We are looking for a highly experienced Data Center ELV Design Expert with over 10 years of experience in the design and implementation of safety, security, and life-safety systems for hyperscale data centers. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in advanced physical security systems, access control, surveillance, fire detection, suppression, and emergency response solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our data centers are protected against physical threats, meet safety standards, and provide a secure environment for operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• ELV Design:
• Lead the design and implementation of ELV for hyperscale data centers, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, physical barriers, perimeter security, and emergency response systems.
• Design and specify life-safety systems, including fire detection and suppression systems, emergency lighting, emergency exit systems, and evacuation procedures.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define security objectives, develop design specifications, and select technologies that provide robust protection while ensuring system scalability and efficiency.
• Fire Safety and Life-Safety Systems:
• Lead the design of fire detection, alarm, and suppression systems tailored to hyperscale data centers, ensuring compliance with industry standards (NFPA, UL, etc.) and local regulations.
• Design systems for early fire detection, suppression methods (e.g., clean agent fire suppression), and smoke control to mitigate risk in the event of a fire.
• Ensure the integration of life-safety systems, including fire alarms, emergency exit signage, and safe evacuation plans, into the overall data center design.
• Security Systems Design and Integration:
• Design and implement advanced security solutions, including access control systems (card readers, biometric scanners), CCTV systems, perimeter intrusion detection, and alarm monitoring systems.
• Work with vendors to select and procure security technologies that offer maximum protection against unauthorized access, theft, and physical tampering.
• Integrate security systems with other data center infrastructure (HVAC, power systems, fire suppression) to provide a comprehensive, seamless solution.
• Collaboration and Coordination:
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, architects, and project managers, to ensure ELV are integrated seamlessly into the overall building and data center infrastructure.
• Provide technical guidance to construction teams, ensuring the correct installation and commissioning of safety and security systems.
• Coordinate with local authorities, regulatory bodies, and third-party consultants to ensure compliance with safety and security standards.
• Risk Assessment and Security Audits:
• Conduct detailed risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify potential safety and security threats and recommend strategies to mitigate risks.
• Lead security audits and safety reviews to ensure that data centers meet the highest standards of security and operational safety.
• Stay current on emerging security threats, safety protocols, and regulatory changes, incorporating best practices into the design and operation of the facility.
• Project Management and Oversight:
• Lead the technical aspects of ELV design, ensuring timely delivery of systems within budget constraints.
• Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of safety and security systems, ensuring they meet design specifications and functional requirements.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocations related to the ELV for data center projects.
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Prepare and maintain detailed documentation for all ELV designs, including system specifications, layout drawings, risk assessments, and compliance reports.
• Ensure that all safety and security design documents are up to date and compliant with applicable codes and regulations.
• Provide regular updates and technical reports to senior management and stakeholders on the status of design, implementation, and performance of safety and security systems.
• Emergency Preparedness and Continuity Planning:
• Develop and implement emergency preparedness plans and disaster recovery strategies for ELV in the data center.
• Design systems that ensure business continuity during emergencies, including backup power for security systems, remote monitoring, and response protocols.
• Work with operational teams to develop training programs for staff on security protocols, emergency response, and evacuation procedures.

Qualifications:

• Education:
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in the design and implementation of safety, security, and life-safety systems for hyperscale data centers or other mission-critical facilities.
• Extensive experience with physical security systems (e.g., access control, CCTV, perimeter security, intrusion detection) and fire suppression technologies (e.g., clean agent, water mist).
• Proven ability to design, implement, and commission complex ELV that meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.

• Skills and Competencies:
• In-depth knowledge of safety codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, UL, ANSI, OSHA) and security regulations.
• Strong understanding of physical security technologies and best practices.
• Familiarity with fire suppression systems and life-safety codes.
• Proficiency in design software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, physical security design tools).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on innovative solutions to complex safety and security challenges.
• Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and ensure timely, within-budget delivery of systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional certifications related to ELV (e.g., CPP, PSP, NFPA certifications, etc.).
• Experience with integrating smart security technologies or IoT-enabled safety solutions.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity considerations for physical security systems.
