About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Software Engineer (Full Stack) to take charge of our full-stack development process. This role requires a strategic thinker who can collaborate closely with the founder and the core team to translate business goals into technical execution. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, deep technical expertise, and a proactive approach to driving the company’s development efforts.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Full Stack Development Leadership

  • Ownership of Full Stack Development:
  • Lead the entire full-stack development process, ensuring alignment with the company's vision and goals.
  • Engage with the founder to gain full context and understanding of the existing codebase, especially during the initial stages.
  • Roadmap Development:
  • Within the first three months, create a detailed roadmap that addresses critical "must-do" tasks (e.g., major bugs, security enhancements, data leakage prevention) and "good-to-do" tasks.
  • Build and update the roadmap based on strategic decisions made in board meetings, including detailed estimates and complexity assessments to aid the founder in decision-making.

2. Strategic Planning and Execution

  • Strategy Conversion:
  • Participate in board meetings and work closely with the founder to translate high-level strategies into executable documents.
  • Regularly review and refine these documents to ensure a deep understanding of the project context, identify potential blockers, and clarify priorities.
  • Sprint and Task Management:
  • Plan and manage sprints based on the strategy, ensuring tasks are well-estimated and aligned with the overall goals.
  • Break down tasks and assign them to team members according to their capabilities, optimizing for efficiency and quality.

3. Team Leadership and Development

  • Team Management:
  • Lead and mentor the development team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Enhance the team’s ability to plan and execute tasks within timelines, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality work.
  • Process Improvement:
  • Continuously assess and improve team processes to maximize efficiency and adherence to best practices.

4. Security and Quality Assurance

  • Security Oversight:
  • Take full responsibility for the security of the development processes, ensuring that all products meet the highest security standards.
  • Quality Product Development:
  • Ensure that the products developed are of the highest quality, with a deep understanding of what it takes to build and maintain such standards.

5. Innovation and Continuous Learning

  • Real-time Strategy Input:
  • Provide real-time suggestions during board meetings, particularly in relation to backend challenges or quick execution methods.
  • Learning and Adapting:
  • Stay open to learning and integrating new technologies or practices that provide the best solutions for the company’s needs.
  • Automation and Efficiency:
  • Advocate for and implement automation practices, including AI, CI/CD pipelines, and other tools to streamline and enhance development processes.

6. Research and Communication

  • Research and Presentation:
  • Conduct thorough research on relevant technologies, trends, and best practices.
  • Break down complex ideas into clear, actionable points, and present them effectively to stakeholders.

7. Workplace Expectations

  • Ownership Mentality:
  • Demonstrate a strong ownership attitude, taking initiative without needing frequent follow-ups from the founder.
  • On-site Work:
  • Work from the office is mandatory to ensure effective communication and collaboration with the team.


Tech Stack & SkillsMust-Have:

  • Programming Languages: Node.js & JavaScript (TypeScript or normal)
  • Databases: Firestore, MongoDB, NoSQL
  • Cloud Platforms: Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS
  • Microservices: Google Cloud Functions
  • Containerization: Docker (creation, hosting, maintenance, etc.)
  • Deployment & Orchestration: Google Cloud Run
  • Messaging & Task Management: Pub/Sub, Google Cloud Tasks
  • Security: GCP/AWS Security (IAMs)


Good-to-Have:

  • Programming Languages: Python
  • Frontend Frameworks: Vue.js, React, Angular
  • AI Integration: Azure (OpenAI APIs)


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Lead Software Engineer or similar role with full-stack development expertise.
  • Strong proficiency in both frontend and backend technologies, particularly within the specified tech stack.
  • Experience in developing and managing CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and manage projects effectively.
  • In-depth knowledge of security best practices in software development.
  • Passion for continuous learning and applying new technologies.
  • A strong sense of ownership and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
