Role Overview

STAIRS Foundation is seeking a highly experienced Senior Accountant to manage end-to-end financial operations, banking, statutory compliance, and reporting processes. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in accounting, preferably in the development/non-profit sector, with a strong command of banking procedures, financial documentation, and statutory compliance (including FCRA, Income Tax, GST, and CSR-related regulations).

Key Responsibilities

Accounts & Bookkeeping

  • Maintain day-to-day accounting entries in Tally or other accounting software.
  • Handle accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.

Banking Operations

  • Manage all banking transactions, fund transfers, deposits, payments, and withdrawals.
  • Liaise with banks for account operations, documentation, FDs, and financial queries.
  • Monitor fund utilisation across multiple project accounts and ensure traceability.

Compliance & Regulatory Filings

  • Ensure timely filing of TDS, GST, PF, ESI, and income tax returns.
  • Maintain and update FCRA accounts, file FC returns, and ensure regulatory compliance under FCRA 2010.
  • Prepare necessary documentation and reports for audits, both statutory and internal.
  • Support the Finance Head in CSR compliance documentation, including 80G and 12A record maintenance.

Audit & Documentation

  • Assist in internal, external, CSR, and donor audits.
  • Ensure proper archiving of vouchers, bills, and supporting documents.
  • Manage documentation for donor reporting and financial transparency.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Graduate/Postgraduate in Commerce (B.Com/M.Com); CA Inter or similar qualification preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in accounting and compliance.
  • Prior experience with NGO or non-profit accounting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Tally, MS Excel, and online banking systems.
  • Well-versed with FCRA, TDS, GST, 80G, 12A, and CSR law compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and fund tracking for different projects.
  • Excellent record-keeping, documentation, and communication skills.
