  • You will:
  • Develop/implement backup solutions within the NCR VOYIX environment as well as understanding the newest product trends to enable assistance to the backup architecture initiatives.
  • Maintain the backup environment to a defined availability target, working as part of a global support team, with off hours on-call requirements on a weekly rotational basis.
  • Diagnose technical and operational software problems on installed systems with resolution within defined SLA’s.
  • Diagnose and solve backup storage hardware problems, working with our vendors as applicable
  • Plan and/or schedule installations of new backup hardware and associated supporting peripherals.
  • Plan and test new releases and software products, and coordinate upgrade projects.
  • Monitor, track and compare system performance using software-based testing, monitoring and analysis tools.
  • Present verbal and written technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Provide input and technical content and regularly review procedural documentation.
  • Basic Requirements:
  • Veritas Netbackup administration
  • Operating systems: Solaris, Linux and Windows familiarity
  • Experience scripting solutions for one time activities and to automate repetitive tasks
  • Strong analytical background with ability to communicate results through metrics
  • Creativity, innovation and the ability to think out of box in problem solving, root cause analysis and solution generation
  • Ability to apply methodologies, processes and tools to enhance work effectiveness and identify further process improvements - project management skills
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts, technologies and techniques
  • Ability to work constructively and cooperatively within the team and across the organization
  • Ability to convey oral/written information in an appropriate and persuasive manner - -Responds to system alerts and has the ability to reprioritize frequently depending on circumstances
  • Ability to work to independently, to defined objectives, and to meet planned dates.
  • Ability to review performance data and identify trends, chronic problems, anomalies and patterns then translate into best practice recommendations and pro-active alerts

Prior Experience with All or Most of the Following is desired:

  • In-depth experience in supporting a large corporate storage environment. Environment consists of virtual and physical Netbackup master and media servers backing up to Dell Data Domain storage.
  • Cloud experience
  • Installing, configuring, testing, documenting, training, of complex backup architectures including replication to DR site for quick recovery.
  • In-depth experience with the following products / tools is preferred:
  • Veritas Netbackup
  • Dell Data Domain
  • Nutanix backups via Cloudpoint
  • Cloud (not required, but preferred)
  • VMWare (not required, but preferred)
  • Oracle and SQL database backups (not required, but preferred)
  • Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems or a related field or equivalent job experience.
