Responsibilities:

  1. Process Development: Lead the development and optimization of polymer extrusion processes for the production of seaweed-based materials.
  2. Equipment Selection: Evaluate and select extrusion equipment and tools suitable for processing biomaterials, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  3. Process Optimization: Conduct experiments and trials to optimize process parameters, material formulations, and tooling designs for improved product quality and performance.
  4. Quality Assurance: Perform comprehensive quality control checks, including grade parameter verification and material testing.
  5. Conduct routine machine maintenance checks and maintain comprehensive process documentation for trials and production
  6. Technology Transfer: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transfer developed processes and technologies to manufacturing sites and partners.
  7. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction through innovation and research in polymer extrusion technologies.


Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Plastics, Polymer Science, Materials Engineering, or related field; advanced degree (Master's or PhD) preferred.


  1. Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in polymer extrusion engineering, preferably in the plastics, or packaging industry, with a focus on biomaterials / polysaccharide processing.
  2. Technical Skills: Strong understanding of polymer chemistry, rheology, and material properties (MFI, DSC etc); hands-on experience with extrusion equipment and processes.
  3. Ability to troubleshoot and optimize processing parameters
  4. Experience in the development and commercialization of biopolymer based products is a plus
  5. Passion for Sustainability: Genuine interest in environmental sustainability and a desire to contribute to positive change through innovative technology solutions.
