Fixed Asset and GL Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities -- Oversee the capitalization, depreciation, and disposal of fixed assets, ensuring compliance with IFRS, Industry standards and company policies. - Maintain the Fixed Asset Register (FAR), reconciling it with the General Ledger. - Manage the capitalization of labor costs, ensuring proper allocation of direct and indirect labor expenses to fixed assets in compliance with accounting standards. - Conduct capital expenditure (CAPEX) analysis, ensuring proper tracking and allocation of investments. - Partner with engineering, operations, and procurement teams to track asset lifecycle, costs, and impairments. - Analise administrative cost base of the group advising on optimization and savings opportunities - Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations related to fixed assets. - Assist in the preparation of financial statements, disclosures, and audit schedules. - Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies as needed. - Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing accurate asset-related data. - Identify and implement process improvements for fixed asset management and reporting. - Expertise in GL Accounting and reporting of costs, cost center accounting, budget vs actualsWho we are looking for -- 8+ years of experience incl at least 3 years in fixed asset accounting, preferably within the telecommunications, infrastructure, or utilities sectors. - Ideally: Experience in undersea cable, fiber-optic networks. - Strong knowledge of IFRS and experience with large-scale capital projects. - Knowledge of lease accounting (IFRS 16) and regulatory reporting - Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced Excel skills. - Experience working with CAPEX projects and asset impairment assessments. - Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. - Ability to work cross-functionally with technical and financial teams.Technical/Functional Skills -- Expert Excel skills - Strong, demonstrable accounting skills - Sound IFRS foundation with ability to independently form opinion - Substantial experience in SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics or similar global software packages
