Job description – Power BI Developer:

Role Objective

The Power BI developer is responsible for the development and administration of BI tools along with complete knowledge of the BI system. The main duty of a Power BI developer is to convert raw data into meaningful insights through interactive and easy-to-understand dashboards and reports that aids decision-making.

The candidate must be proficient to work on a wide number of tasks including reporting, creating dashboards, building data models, analyzing datasets, building reports, and administration of Power BI.

Detailed Roles and Responsibilities:

OPERATIONAL


•Understand BI business requirements and design data models to transform raw data into a semantic layer to support the generation of meaningful insights


•Convert BI business requirements into technical specifications and estimate effort to accomplish related tasks


•Ingest the data from various sources and perform the required transformation using the UI, M query, and data flows


•Write SQL queries, stored procedures and ETL jobs to get data from source systems


•Create relationships between data and develop tabular and other multidimensional data models


•Develop Measures and formula using DAX


•Utilizing effectively the navigation features in Power BI (e.g. bookmarks, drill-through) and best fit visuals to guide report/dashboard consumers through a compelling data-driven story


•Implement Raw Level Security (RLS) in Power BI


•Develop and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and paginated reports


•Publish reports to Power BI Service and On-prem Power BI servers and schedule refresh cycles


•Manage Power BI security to provide the required access levels to reports consumers


•Install, configure and manage Power BI Data Gateway and On-prem servers


•Work with BI Analysts and UI/UX specialist on requirements and visuals decisions


•Work with data engineers in data preparation and transformation requirements


•Work with portals/application developer on embedding requirements of Power BI contents (workspace configuration and provision of the required parameters for embedding in external applications)


•Stay updated with advancements and best practices in design and development of Power BI and Analytics
