Job Title: SAP FI S/4HANA (GST & Tax Reporting)

Location: Hyderabad, India

Experience: Minimum 5 years (strong hands-on experience in SAP FI S/4HANA Accounting)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Application Lead with strong SAP FI S/4HANA expertise and deep knowledge of Indian GST and tax reporting. As the Application Lead, you will be the primary point of contact responsible for designing, building, configuring, and stabilizing finance applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, liaise with country tax stakeholders, drive implementation best practices, and lead your team through the full project lifecycle — from design and configuration to cutover and hypercare.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the primary point of contact for application design, configuration, and delivery for SAP FI S/4HANA finance and tax solutions.
• Liaise with clients and business stakeholders to gather requirements and resolve GST- and tax-related queries.
• Configure and maintain GST settings within SAP (including TDS, e-Invoicing, tax determination and tax reporting).
• Configure, test and validate GST returns and document compliance reporting to ensure statutory compliance.
• Implement and manage third-party integrations related to tax reporting and invoicing.
• Support tax localization requirements and collaborate with the Cluster Tax team for deployments and rollouts.
• Review build demos, validate test results against design specifications, and ensure traceability to business requirements.
• Support organizational change activities: prepare documentation, train country users, and ensure role-based responsibilities are understood and executed.
• Lead cutover planning, execution and hypercare support during go-live phases.
• Serve as the SME for SAP tax reporting and tax determination, providing guidance across projects and teams.
• Make technical and functional decisions for the team and contribute to cross-team decisions.
• Conduct regular code/configuration reviews and ensure adherence to coding/configuration standards and SAP best practices.
• Mentor and train team members; stay current with SAP S/4HANA Finance updates and recommended patterns.

Professional & Technical Skills

Must-have

• Strong working knowledge of Indian GST laws, TDS, e-Invoicing and statutory tax compliance.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on SAP FI (preferably S/4HANA Finance) implementation and configuration experience.
• Proven experience in baseline configuration for GST India in SAP.
• Experience across SAP FI and integration points with MM and SD modules.
• Experience in tax determination and tax reporting within SAP.
• Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and statutory reporting.
• Hands-on experience with end-to-end SAP implementation lifecycle (requirements, design, build, test, cutover, hypercare).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to propose pragmatic solutions.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and team-lead skills.

Desirable / Nice to have

• Experience with SAP ARC/DRC or comparable tax reporting tools.
• Prior exposure to SAP S/4HANA Finance innovations (New GL, Asset Accounting, Central Finance).
• Experience with third-party tax engines or integration middleware.
• Certifications in SAP FI/S4HANA Finance or related tax modules.
