Director of Technology - Position Description, Mumbai India- Reports To:- Vice President of Engineering (Dallas)- Department:- India Technology TeamPosition Summary:The Director of Technology - AI & Product Delivery is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for onshore and offshore engineering leads and multiple cross-functional teams. These teams support both product-specific and cross-cutting business functions such as authentication, platform APIs, DevOps tooling, and shared services. This leader is accountable for delivery transformation and modernization efforts, including the decomposition of legacy monoliths into serverless, cloud-native architectures leveraging AWS services such as Lambda, DynamoDB, Cognito, and API Gateway.This role blends technology execution with architectural vision and requires close collaboration with product, data science, QA, and business stakeholders. A strong understanding of financial processing is critical, and experience in travel technology domains is preferred. Success in this role depends on the ability to drive speed, agility, and quality across distributed teams, embedding AI where it creates product and business impact while ensuring platform scalability, reliability, and compliance.Key Responsibilities:AI Strategy & Implementation:- Lead the implementation of AI and machine learning technologies into the company's product roadmap.- Evaluate emerging AI technologies and frameworks to identify opportunities for innovation and competitive advantages.- Oversee the architecture and scaling of ITS integration of AI models in production environments, ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance.Product Delivery Leadership:- Drive the end-to-end technology delivery execution of product initiatives, from ideation through delivery.- Partner closely with Product Management, UX, and business stakeholders along with technical team leads to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.- Ensure efficient cross-functional collaboration across engineering, data science, Customer Success, and DevOps teams.Technology Leadership & Management:- Lead and mentor a high-performing organization of engineers, AI/ML specialists, and technical program managers.- Manage multiple teams in India that support cross-cutting functional areas such as authentication, platform APIs, DevOps tooling, observability, and shared services used across products.- Establish and enforce best practices in software development, serverless design, data engineering, and MLOps.- Collaborate with POD leaders and Product Managers to align roadmaps, manage risks, and ensure consistent, timely delivery across teams.- Optimize architecture for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency while maintaining high availability.- Extensive experience with AWS and other emerging cloud technologies, no-code/low-code platforms, and hands-on experience with DevOps, QA, and application development.- Exceptional management skills with demonstrated ability to manage, motivate, mentor, and grow talent.- Exhibit a self-starter, entrepreneurial mentality with the ability to maintain curiosity, work through challenges, and lead by example.Governance & Quality:- Ensure all systems are ethically built, explainable, and compliant with relevant regulations and incorporate security into the design pattern (e.g., GDPR, AI Act).- Implement, automate, and maintain robust testing, monitoring, and certification for both traditional software and AI Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or related field.- 5+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, including 2+ years leading AI/data-centric product initiatives.- Deep experience in AWS Serverless architecture (e.g., Lambda, DynamoDB, Cognito, API Gateway, S3) and cloud infrastructure best practices.- Proven ability to lead delivery transformation efforts, including decomposition of monoliths into microservices and event-driven systems.- Strong working knowledge of financial processing systems (e.g., payment workflows, reconciliations, PCI considerations).- Experience with or exposure to travel technology systems (e.g., booking platforms, GDS/NDC integrations, or mid-office workflows) is a plus.- Hands-on understanding of Agile, DevOps, MLOps, CI/CD pipelines, and responsible AI practices.- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional management skills.- Preferred Skills & Tools:- - Current, hands-on knowledge of C++, HTML, Python, Lambda, TensorFlow/PyTorch, Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native development.- Experience with product lifecycle management and responsible AI frameworks.- Background in managing hybrid teams (on-site, remote, offshore).- Experience in Figma, React, HTML and other UX languages.
