Position: Director Technology.

Work Location: Mumbai / Delhi (Preferred).

Employment: Full-time on payroll.

We are a world-class NGO, which works with the various state and central governments to improve healthcare outcomes. We are looking to hire a Technical director.

Technology plays a vital role in amplifying impact, streamlining operations, and engaging stakeholders. We leverage the deep mobile penetration in the country, along with existing health worker networks of the government and partner NGOs, to improve health outcomes.

Role Overview

The organization is seeking a passionate Technology Director to drive its technology strategy and operations. This leader will be responsible for shaping and executing the technology vision, overseeing IT infrastructure, managing digital platforms, and driving innovative solutions that enable the organization to reach millions of women, children, and healthcare workers across India.

This senior leadership role combines technical expertise, product vision, and operational excellence in a mission-driven environment. The Technology Director will collaborate with leadership, program teams, and external partners to ensure technology empowers the mission and enhances operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Define Technology Strategy and Roadmap

• Develop and implement a future-ready technology strategy aligned with organizational goals, ensuring high-quality, timely execution of all initiatives.
• Oversee IT and technology operations, including systems administration, cybersecurity, and data management.
• Lead digital transformation initiatives and make key decisions related to architecture, product development, and implementation.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions to improve impact.

Drive Operational Excellence

• Prioritize and allocate resources effectively for technology projects.
• Identify, onboard, and manage relationships with external technology vendors, development partners, and service providers.
• Ensure vendor deliverables align with timelines, quality standards, and budgets.
• Lead the development and management of the technology budget in collaboration with leadership.
• Develop metrics and systems to track and report on technology effectiveness.

Ensure Data Privacy, Security, and Compliance

• Develop and enforce policies for technology management, security, and data protection.
• Ensure compliance with security and data privacy regulations, and with requirements from donors, government entities, and other partners.

Leadership and Team Development

• Build and mentor a high-performing technology team, fostering leadership at all levels.
• Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to team members.
• Establish a succession plan by identifying potential leaders and supporting their growth.

Role Specification

Experience & Qualifications

• 15+ years in technology leadership roles, including at least 5 years leading teams.
• Proven experience in building and scaling technology platforms in health tech, ed-tech, fintech, or similar mission-driven sectors.
• Strong understanding of mobile technologies, open-source frameworks, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and system integration.
• Experience working in low-resource settings or with social impact organizations (preferred).
• Deep commitment to social impact and inclusive technology.
