Job Title: Power BI Lead

Job Summary: As a Power BI Lead, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of Power BI solutions within the organization. You will work closely with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into effective Power BI dashboards and reports. Additionally, you will provide technical leadership to a team of Power BI developers and ensure the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget.

Responsibilities:

  1. Solution Design: Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their reporting and analytics requirements. Design Power BI solutions that address these requirements while ensuring scalability, performance, and usability.
  2. Development: Lead the development of Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models. Utilize best practices for data visualization and ensure data accuracy and consistency across all reports.
  3. Data Integration: Integrate data from various sources into Power BI using ETL processes or direct connections. Ensure data quality and implement appropriate data cleansing and transformation techniques.
  4. Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentoring to a team of Power BI developers. Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  5. Performance Optimization: Identify and address performance bottlenecks in Power BI solutions. Optimize queries, data models, and report rendering to improve overall performance and user experience.
  6. Quality Assurance: Develop and implement testing strategies to validate the accuracy and reliability of Power BI reports and dashboards. Work closely with business users to gather feedback and make necessary revisions.
  7. Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for Power BI solutions, including data dictionaries, data lineage, and user manuals. Ensure that documentation is kept up-to-date and easily accessible to relevant stakeholders.
  8. Training and Support: Provide training and support to business users on how to use Power BI effectively. Address user inquiries and troubleshoot issues in a timely manner.
  9. Stay Updated: Stay abreast of the latest developments in Power BI technology and industry best practices. Evaluate new features and functionalities and make recommendations for their adoption.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business intelligence and analytics.
  • Proficiency in Power BI, including Power Query, DAX, and Power BI Service.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and methodologies.
  • Experience with SQL Server or other relational databases.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven leadership abilities with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Power BI or related technologies.
  • Experience with other BI tools such as Tableau or QlikView.
  • Knowledge of advanced analytics and machine learning concepts.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.

Working Conditions: This role primarily operates in an office environment, but may require travel to other locations as needed. The position may also require occasional evening and weekend work to meet project deadlines.
