Job summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to join our organization as the Head of Procurement Department. This role is crucial in ensuring effective procurement strategies, vendor management, and coordination across various departments to support the company's operations and growth. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in senior procurement roles, with a strong background in vendor development, procurement of raw materials and engineering tools, and expertise in yarn procurement.

Key Responsibilities:

Vendor Development and Management:

- Identify, evaluate, and develop potential vendors and suppliers for raw materials,industrial consumables, packaging etc.

- Negotiate contracts and terms with vendors to ensure favourable terms and pricing.

- Maintain strong relationships with existing vendors and manage vendor performance through regular evaluations.

Procurement Planning and Execution:

- Develop procurement strategies aligned with organizational objectives.

- Oversee the procurement process for raw materials, spares, engineering tools, and specifically, yarn procurement.

- Develop SOPs for the procurement process and ensure proper quality materials are procured at the best possible rates.

- Ensure timely procurement of materials to meet production schedules and project timelines.

- Ensure quality checks and standardisation is maintained in materials procured.

Coordination and Collaboration:

- Work closely with internal departments such as Material Planning, Supply Chain, and Quality Check teams to coordinate procurement activities.

- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to understand their requirements and ensure timely availability of materials.

Quality Assurance:

- Collaborate with the Quality Check team to ensure that purchased materials meet quality standards and specifications required by the production and engineering teams.

- Implement measures to address any quality issues with vendors and suppliers.

Cost Management:

- Implement cost-effective procurement strategies to optimize spending and achieve cost savings.

- Monitor and analyse procurement costs and trends to identify opportunities for cost reduction.

Compliance and Risk Management:

- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

- Identify and mitigate procurement-related risks to minimize disruptions to operations.

Leadership and Team Management:

- Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team.

- Foster an ethical, collaborative and high-performance work environment within the procurement department.

Qualifications and Skills:

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.

- Proven experience of at least 10 years in procurement, with significant experience in vendor management and procurement of raw materials, spares, and engineering tools. Expertise in yarn procurement is essential. Candidate from manufacturing background will be preferred.

- Strong negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain effective relationships with vendors and suppliers.

- Solid understanding of procurement processes, including sourcing, purchasing, and contract management.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.

- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in leading and developing teams.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and at all levels of the organization.

- Proficiency in procurement software and tools, as well as familiarity with ERP systems.

Additional Requirements:

- Willingness to travel occasionally for vendor visits, negotiations, or industry events.

- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
