With over 25 years of experience, Tayal & Co. is a trusted partner to Indian Railways, specializing in safety-critical engineering products, passenger comfort solutions, and advanced mobility technologies. As we continue to expand, we are looking for a dynamic and experienced Purchase Manager – Strategic Procurement to lead our procurement operations.

Key Responsibilities

As Purchase Manager, you will:

1. Develop and implement procurement strategies to support production requirements and long-term business goals.
2. Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams (Production, Planning, Quality, Finance) to ensure systematic procurement, budgeting, and planning.
3. Build, develop, and manage long-term supplier relationships and key strategic partnerships.
4. Establish and maintain procurement policies, procedures, and best practices.
5. Oversee contract negotiations, compliance, and risk mitigation to protect company interests.
6. Drive new vendor development, price negotiations, and vendor onboarding for major cost-impacting purchases.
7. Lead, mentor, and guide the procurement team members at all levels to achieve organizational goals.
8. Monitor inventory levels and open purchase orders, collaborating with Planning teams to align with demand forecasts.
9. Ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of raw materials, components, and services.
10. Develop and maintain strong vendor partnerships, ensuring collaboration and reliability.
11. Continuously monitor and improve vendor performance in terms of quality, cost, delivery, and compliance.
12. Identify cost reduction opportunities and optimize the supply chain for efficiency.
13. Support supplier qualification, audits, and evaluations in line with quality and ISO standards.
14. Ensure compliance with procurement policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.
15. Drive adoption of digital procurement tools and e-sourcing platforms for efficiency.

Desired Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, and supply chain optimization.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage strategic sourcing, contracts, and supplier development.
• Proficiency in e-procurement platforms, ERP systems, and MS Office tools.
• Knowledge of railway/automotive/engineering industry materials such as electrical components, mechanical assemblies, cables, harnesses, transformers, and outsourced parts.
• Strong leadership with the ability to mentor, guide, and inspire teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• High integrity, detail orientation, and ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Adaptability to changing business environments and ability to drive process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field (MBA preferred).
• 7–10 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management in manufacturing, railway, automotive, or engineering sectors.
• Proven track record of cost reduction, vendor performance management, and strategic sourcing.
• Familiarity with ISO/quality systems, safety compliance, and industry standards.
• Experience in leading teams and handling large-scale procurement budgets.
