Wherehouse - Sales Manager - Modern Trade

About the Role:
We are seeking a seasoned Modern Trade Sales Manager to drive our growth within the organized retail sector. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of modern trade dynamics and at least five years of experience working in modern retail channels. This role will focus on building strong relationships with key accounts, expanding brand presence, and driving sales within the modern trade segment.
Key Account Management:
- Manage and grow relationships with major modern trade accounts (e.g., hypermarkets, supermarkets, and retail chains).
- Negotiate annual agreements and promotions, ensuring favorable terms that align with company goals.
- Work closely with account buyers and category managers to maximize brand visibility and sales performance.
Sales Strategy & Execution:
- Develop and implement sales strategies specifically tailored to modern trade channels.
- Set sales targets and KPIs, monitor performance, and provide strategic guidance to achieve targets.
- Analyze sales data to assess product performance, market trends, and customer behavior.
Promotions & In-Store Execution:
- Plan and execute promotional campaigns, seasonal offers, and in-store activations in coordination with marketing.
- Ensure optimal placement and merchandising of products in stores to maximize visibility and customer engagement.
- Collaborate with the merchandising team to maintain brand standards and drive impulse purchases.
- Identify and onboard new modern trade accounts to expand the brand's market reach.
Market Expansion & Customer Acquisition:
- Identify and onboard new modern trade accounts to expand the brand's market reach.
- Conduct competitor analysis and stay updated on market trends to identify and capitalize on growth opportunities.
- Work closely with the distribution team to ensure consistent product availability and timely replenishment.
Reporting & Analysis:
- Track sales performance and provide regular reports and insights to senior management.
- Monitor ROI on promotional activities and suggest improvements for future campaigns.
- Conduct post-promotion analysis to understand the impact on sales and share actionable insights.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field. MBA preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in modern trade sales or key account management in retail.
- Strong understanding of the modern trade landscape, with established relationships in the sector.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and managing key retail accounts.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
