MontyCloud - Principal Cloud Engineer - Azure Infrastructure

Role Overview :

The Principal Cloud Engineer (Azure) will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing robust, scalable, and secure cloud solutions on the Azure platform. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Azure services, best practices, design patterns and architecture patterns to drive the adoption and optimization of cloud technologies within the organization.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their requirements, technical merits, and TCO value propositions, identifying gaps and opportunities to align solutions with the company's service offerings.

2. Design and develop well-structured, secure, scalable, efficient, and cost-optimized Azure solutions, considering trade-offs between requirements, speed, cost, and reliability.

3. Develop proof-of-concepts (POCs) to demonstrate the feasibility and advantages of proposed Azure solutions in real-world scenarios.

4. Create detailed solution proposals and architecture designs, outlining technical aspects and implementation timelines.

5. Provide hands-on guidance during POC implementation and initial deployments, ensuring a smooth client experience.

6. Collaborate with technical teams to facilitate the seamless transition of proposed solutions into practical implementation, addressing client-specific requirements.

7. Develop strategies for cost-effective utilization of Azure services, including cost analysis, monitoring, and optimization techniques.

8. Stay up-to-date with the latest Azure services, solutions, and best practices to ensure offerings remain cutting-edge and aligned with industry trends.

9. Share insights, best practices, and success stories with the team to enhance collective knowledge and effectiveness.

10. Manage end-to-end oversight of multiple full life cycle Azure cloud engagements, demonstrating ability to handle product and program management aspects within Azure solutions.

Desired Skills :

Must Have :

1. Strong understanding of various cloud software solution stacks, including compute, orchestration, infrastructure management, storage, and networking solutions.

2. Proven hands-on knowledge of cloud computing, containerization technologies/Kubernetes, database design, data warehousing, ETL/data ops, and security.

3. Extensive experience working with multiple clients in assessing and migrating applications to the cloud.
Proven experience as a Cloud Engineer handling medium to large-scale cloud migrations.

4. Expertise in building enterprise-class Cloud landing zones and foundational services.

5. Proficiency in creating Terraform templates for landing zone creation & infrastructure provisioning using Terraform/ARM templates.

6. Experience in performing Well-Architected Reviews for customers.

7. Familiarity with designing DevOps pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, and GitHub.

8. Expertise in tools like Terraform and ARM Templates for developing CI/CD processes and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) artifacts for deployments.

9. Overall design experience for network, security, generic infrastructure, and supporting services in Azure.

10. Excellent working knowledge of Windows or Linux operating systems.

11. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and ability to function effectively in an Agile-based environment.

Good to Have :

- Certifications such as Azure Solutions Engineer Expert, Azure Administrator, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or equivalent.

- Experience with Azure Governance, Policy, and Compliance frameworks.

- Knowledge of Azure security best practices, including Azure AD, Azure Security Center, Azure Advisor and Azure Sentinel.

- Familiarity with serverless computing and Azure Functions.

- Experience with Azure Event Hubs, Azure Event Grid, Azure Data Services, such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Databricks.

- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Experience :

- 12+ years of experience on cloud platforms, with a specialty in Azure.

Education :

- Bachelors or masters degree in computer science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
