Data Engineer – Andheri, Mumbai

Our client, a global leader in the shipping industry, is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join their dynamic team in Mumbai. Reporting to the Senior Data Expert at HQ, you will design and optimize data systems that drive strategic and operational decisions across a global fleet.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain cloud-based data lakes, warehouses, and ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Optimize cloud environments (AWS EC2, S3, EMR, etc.) for high availability and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR, SOC2, and data protection protocols.
  • Automate workflows (e.g., Apache Airflow) and collaborate with Data Scientists for predictive analytics.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline issues, maintain documentation, and enhance data quality.
  • Work cross-functionally across time zones, simplifying technical concepts for non-technical users.

Your Profile:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field.
  • 3+ years' experience as a Data Engineer, proficient in SQL, PySpark, Airflow.
  • Experience managing infrastructure involving Spark, Hive, and Presto.
  • Proficiency in AWS services like EC2, S3, EMR
  • Strong knowledge of Data Lakes/Warehouses and relational databases (Postgres, MySQL, Oracle).
  • Hands-on AWS experience; familiarity with GCP/Azure an advantage.
  • Exposure to MLOps tools (e.g., AWS SageMaker, ECR).
  • Excellent English communication skills and ability to work independently.
