Description :Role : Manual QA EngineerJob Summary :We are seeking a proactive Manual QA Engineer to join our dedicated platform team (10- 14 people) in Kochi, Kerala. This role is central to ensuring software quality and successfully supporting the migration of legacy systems to new technologies, offering continuous learning opportunities. The Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining functional, scalable, and innovative applications that meet stringent business requirements, with a strategic focus on manual operations testing and comprehensive test planning.Primary Responsibility & Core Functions (Quality Assurance Execution and Ownership) :Test Execution and Operations Focus : Under minimum or no supervision, carry out established procedures and tests to ensure that information systems and services meet defined standards and end-user needs. The role includes a focus on 75% operations testing, critically validating system performance and behavior under real-world usage scenarios.Test Strategy and Planning : Actively engage in Test strategy formulation, including decomposing the business and technical requirements into detailed test case scenarios, defining necessary test data requirements, managing test case creation, devising contingency plans, and executing other essential preparation activities.Analysis and Test Artifact Creation : Analyze functional documents to gain a deep and thorough understanding of application functionality. Plan and create comprehensive test cases based on requirements and subsequently produce detailed Test Scripts.Quality and Peer Review : Review requirements and test cases created by peers, ensuring full test coverage, adherence to standards, and clarity across the team.Issue Management and Escalation : Raise any test issues immediately upon detection and escalate any issue that could appear in understanding the functionality of the application to the relevant stakeholders (e.g., product managers, developers) to prevent project delays.Migration and Enhancement Support : Actively participate in the process of migrating legacy systems to new technology, testing a number of different applications, and supporting new enhancement development.Strategy and Specialization :Area Specialization : Develop deep expertise by committing to specialize in at least one area such as Functional, Performance, or Security testing.Continuous Improvement : Contribute to the improvement of QA processes and application stability, ensuring long-term quality control.Required Skills & Qualifications :Core QA : Proven ability to work under minimum or no supervision and expertise in executing established testing procedures and standards.Test Artifacts : Strong ability to analyze functional documents, plan and create comprehensive test cases, and produce detailed Test Scripts.Analytical Skills : High proficiency in reviewing requirements and test cases to ensure adequate coverage and clarity.Process Compliance : Experience working within structured QA processes and adhering to defined standards.Communication : Strong ability to clearly raise and escalate test issues and report on testing progress.Preferred Skills :Specialization : Demonstrated knowledge or experience in Functional, Performance, or Security testing methodologies.Database Testing : Basic ability to perform DB testing or run pre-defined SQL queries for data validation.Agile Methodology : Experience working within an Agile or Scrum development environment.Migration Exposure : Prior experience supporting legacy system migration projects.Location & Employment Details :Location : Kochi, Kerala (ref:hirist.tech)
