Job Summary

The Counterparty and Operational Risk Manager will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing both counterparty and operational risks associated with the company's business activities. This role involves developing and implementing risk management policies, conducting due diligence on counterparties, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, risk management, and a deep understanding of both counterparty and operational risk dynamics.

Key Responsibilities

Core:

  • Identify and assess counterparty risks associated with various business activities, including trading, investments, and contractual agreements.
  • Develop and implement risk management policies and procedures to mitigate counterparty and operational risks.
  • Assist in conducting thorough due diligence on counterparties, including financial analysis,
  • Monitor and report on counterparty and operational risk exposures, providing regular updates to senior management.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including corporate risk, trading business teams, trading execution teams, finance, compliance and legal to ensure comprehensive risk management.
  • Stay updated on regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to counterparty and operational risk management.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal trading team to facilitate effective risk management strategies.
  • Ensure all operational activities are risk-assessed in a systematic and structured way, including normal, non-routine, and emergency response activities.
  • Implement and maintain a documented risk assessment plan, coordinating with site senior management and regularly reviewing progress.

Additional:

  • Assist and manage operational risks, including contract documentation, authorization processes, and adherence to basic operating procedures.
  • Work with trading team to oversee the timely and accurate execution of trades, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best execution standards.
  • Track and analyze the team's trading risk performance, reviewing key metrics and performance indicators to identify areas for improvement.
  • Utilize technology and automation to improve operational efficiency and assist in transformation.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field. Additional professional certification would be preferred.
  • Least 8 years of proven experience in counterparty risk management, operational risk, or a related field in commodity trading domain.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to conduct detailed financial and operational analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to counterparty and operational risk management.
  • Proficiency in risk management software and tools.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in the finance, banking, or commodities trading sectors.
  • Familiarity with international trade and regulatory environments.
  • Experience working with high-risk counterparties and conducting due diligence in complex scenarios.
  • Open to travel across the globe
