Total Salary Package: $305,300 to $404,970 (pro rata for part time)
Package inclusive of Base Salary $188,151 to $254,198 + Private Practice Scheme Allowance + On-call allowance + Medical Education Expense Allowance + Superannuation (11.5%) - Note: Starting base salary will be negotiated within this classification for the successful candidate, depending on experience andexpertise.

About the Role:

Position Overview

The Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) Medical Lead holds a leadership position within the Division of Cancer and Ambulatory Support (CAS).

The VAD Medical Lead will provide medical expertise and VAD support for individuals, families and health professionals, including VAD Authorised Practitioners. You will work collaboratively with other health professionals and other services used by individuals and their families as they navigate this end-of-life option.

The VAD Medical Lead is responsible for leading, engaging with and training clinical colleagues on VAD, and supporting formal VAD service delivery once VAD legislation commences. You will provide medical leadership and clinical oversight of the implementation, governance and preparation for operationalising VAD across the CHS Network once VAD legislation commences in the ACT.

Strong research links are maintained with the ANU, University of Canberra and the Australian Catholic University. All specialties are represented with the exception of organ transplantation. The hospital has well developed post graduate teaching programs. A fully equipped medical library is available on site with a large collection of hard copy and on line journals and textbooks.

The preferred candidate maybe considered for a conjoint position in ANU at an academic level commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.  The academic position will be held for the duration of the Canberra Health Services employment and will be subject to regular performance reviews.  No remuneration is attached to the University position. The employee will be responsible to the University on academic matters and to The Canberra Hospital & Health Services / Canberra Health Services for clinical/ research matters.

Hold Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency

Meet credentialing requirements and receive an Endorsed scope of clinical practice from the Medical Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC)

• 

Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.

• 

Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.

• 

Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.
